Heard some ESPN talking heads (Valvano and Olney, I think) saying that there are strong rumors that Tony LaRussa and Walt Jockety will leave the Cardinals at the end of the year and take over the management of the Cincinnati Reds.
I think I would like this.
Of course, LaRussa would then go from arrogant and pompous to misunderstood genius.
Any truth to this rumor?

I hope he does come, he just wants a little piece of the franchise that smoked him in 1990.
Pipe dream I imagine, but interesting to talk about. Why would you go from a franchise that just won the World Series and spend money in a new ballpark with franchise players to a the Reds? It is not like the Reds could pay them way more.

Yes, they CAN pay them more. It's just a matter of IF they will pay them more. :icon_question:

I'm not even sure they could. Could they? Cincinnati is a veritably small market compared to St. Louis.

The new owner of the Reds has money to burn. It's just a matter of whether he wants to be a "miser" like Carl Lindner was/is.

People who claim to "know" say that Castellini wants a big name for the manager job. Doesn't get much bigger than LaRussa.
