Anybody else out there use it? It makes doing taxes easier for me. Of course, all we mainly have is our income and student loan deductions. There are a few chariities and other what nots, but I was done this year in about an hour. It also made it easier when switch from one state that does have taxes to another that is state tax free.

My wife and I swear by it. As you said, it makes the process much, much easier. We have some business deductions along with our income, and the interest on ourmortgage, but it's worked flawlessly. We got the state refund back in about a week and the federal refund back in about three. I would recommend it to anyone.

We've been 'turbotaxers' for about 10 years now, but gave H&R Block's Tax Cut a shot this year. It was cheaper and gave you a free filing which, for the first time I think, Turbo Tax did not do this year. Looks to be practically the same deal though.

I used TurboTax for the Web for a few years before I got married. I have no complaints. It told me the same amounts that H&R Block did, and for a lot cheaper. DH just prefers us to take our taxes to an accountant he knows back home because he's good at pulling out random deductions. I'm tempted to pull out all the paperwork these days to see if I can come up with the same figures he does... :)

I've used it for years and love it. It keeps track of all my MANY losses in the stock market and carries them over to the next year. I would never be able to keep track without it.

I agree that both programs made life a lot better. No math errors. Immediate correction/change updates. Asks you questions you may not think of. But life got so complicated in recent years, including Mom's estate, that I got frustrated with details I overlooked & thus are having them done now for the 3rd year.

Either way, I think it's an indictment of our tax systems that you have to spend money to stay out of the clutches of Government. That ain't right.

Timely topic. I spent most of yesterday doing my taxes with Turbo Tax.

Works like a charm and save me $100's of dollars working with a CPA.

If you have business interests, turbo tax is useless. The difference between that program and a good accountant is thousands and thousands of dollars. advantage accountant. If you don't have that many business interests, it really doesn't matter.

You are correct about that. If I had my own business I would turn it over to my CPA. But half of my earnings are from investments and half salary. The premier version suits my needs just fine. I know people who get an accountant to do basic IRS work. Any high school grad should be able to do that without spending money on an accountant. Tax laws are complicated but if you want to take time most anyone can fill out the basic forms.

But a business is another ball game.

I use taxact.com.

You can use the short form version for free. (1040)?

You can get the total package - federal and state for

19.95 which includes one free efiling.

Hope this helps some.

I use to fill from phone howerver, last year I use taxslayer.com from state site. i HATE PAYING SUCH FEES WHEN mINE AREN'T TO COMPLICATED. pLUS THESE LOCALIZED AGENTS DON'T SUGGEST WAYS TO SAVE MONEY . aT LEAST, mY PARENTS NEVER OFFERED. The IRS E-File service is great for upto Eighty Thousand Dollars. Don't forget IRS.Gov and somebody correct me if I am wrong. YOu can get the forms and fill them out and mail it to IRS but it must be done correctly:D. If you get it wrong, you must leave a good amount of time for IRS to return it for correction. That methodology is always free<><><><>$$$$$$$$$$$$$$<><><><>.
