Bioshock for the XBox 360 and PC are definitely garnering a lot of hype and street cred at this point. Reviews of the game have been more than stellar and it's hard to find any review below a perfect 100/100 or 10 out of 10. This is game of the year in my opinion so far and is even better than Gears of War I think.
If you don't have it, GET IT.

If you can run Bioshock on your PC, you have one monster machine.
I've played the demo and was really impressed. No multiplayer though, right? That makes it hard to replace Gears as my favorite 360 game.

To those who don't have an Xbox 360....Rock Band, Guitar Hero 3, Halo 3. Bioshock, Gears of War, Dead Rising.
SIX reasons to buy an xbox 360 ASAP.

I'm leery of Rock Band. I just don't see myself paying $200 for that thing.

i'm currently playing the game. the graphics are amazing and the gameplay is great. what makes the game so great is the story and the characters in the game.

If you feel like $200 is too much for Rock Band, you probably shouldn't get it. That said, I'll be one of the people camping out for it, as it will be the hottest item this Christmas.

Look, I love GHII. It's one of my favorite games ever. And I'll get GHIII the day it comes out.
The thing that makes me leery of Rock Band is the whole singing aspect. I can't sing, so I don't try. And I don't want to be playing online with some joker that can't sing a lick either. That would just suck and be no fun. But I'd love playing the instruments.
And $200 is too much....
I like it. I've been playing it on the hardest difficulty and it's dominating me, so my experience is probably a bit hindered. If I don't get passed this next obstacle I may start over on Medium, even though I've logged quite a bit of time on it.
The no multiplayer thing makes this just a rental in my opinion, but that's only if you enjoy the online experience. I've got it until Tuesday so I hope to finish it by then.
I do want to say that I don't think it's quite as good as everyone has been saying. It's not perfect by any means, but it is a very good game.

I have been playing it pretty steadily for the past few days. I don't know if it is better than Gears of War but it is great game. The story line is very unique which makes a very cool game. I can't play it for long though I get to into it and need a reality break.

I have the same problem. I just can't play Bioshock for more than 30-45 minutes at a time. It's weird. But it is a great game. No doubt about that.

truly a classic in the making...it really doesn't need multi-player, games like Gears and Rainbow Six are MADE for multi-player but Bioshock's single-player campaign and story are enough to make it a solid title...I like playing online too, but I wouldn't disregard a game just because it lacks that feature....

i wonder what it is about the game that makes you feel like that. i've been the same way. i mean you get so far and you've just got this desire to turn it off for a while. maybe it's because the game is so **** dark. not to mention the times you'll be searching a cabinet or something and get all relaxed then turn around and there's a splicer just standing right in your face!!!! i think i'm going to try and rush through it. i'm done looking for all of the audio files. i just wanna finish it up and return it. i like the game and all but i'm really glad i didn't pay $60 for it and rented it instead.

Now that you mention it, I think it is because it's so effing dark and depressing. I guess there's just so much of that I can take. Compared to Gears of War, the two worlds are pretty similar - they're both decaying and in shambles. Both games have elements of sci-fi and horror in them, but I think Gears is more fun because it also had elements of humor. Cole Train was funny. You know? There were moments of lightness to break up the gloom & doom and blood & gets. I've not gotten any light moments in Bioshock. It's 100 percent oppressive darkness.
And one other thing... the Little Sisters freak me out. I think it's because I have a little girl of my own about that age.

I am happy I bought it because school just started and I don't have that much time to play it in one sitting. But I am pretty sure that I am almost though the game and that sucks. I guess after I beat it I will just take it in and trade it in. The replay value doesn't seem that great since there isn't any online play. The game is awesome though! The replay value on these types of games is never too good. That is why I stick to sports games.

The more I play this game, the more it reminds me of Half-Life 2.

I beat it on Hard the first time, and ran through it pretty quick on easy the second time. Which ending did you get?

Yea I beat it last week. It was ok I guess. The final guy wasn't that hard if you had all your first aid packs and EV.

I didn't know there was a different ending for either. I didn't harvest more than three of them the whole game. I guess I should have tried for none. Maybe I will put it on a lower level and try to do it with no harvesting. I played it once though on the second level and I only dies once so I might try it on the next level and see how I can do.

I'm really close. I just finished my Big Daddy suit, so I'm guessing there's not much to do after that. Hopefully, I'll beat it this afternoon. Then it's probably off to EB Games to trade it in.

Yeah, if I had the money to buy it, I still would have rented it. There's just not much value in it after it's over with. You may play through it again to get the extra achievements (looking for the diaries, etc.) but even then, it gets pretty tiresome.
As for the reviews of the game, I do not really agree with them. I don't think the game is as epic as it's been made out to be, but it was a great single player experience. I thought the story and the movie-like transitions were really, really good.

Agreed, the game was great. but it's nowhere near the hype everyone is pushing.

Ditto that. I beat it today. The ending was kinda lame. I'm debating whether I want to go back and pick up a few more achievements or just go ahead and take the game in to EB for credit
