First off:

Didn't know this link existed till now, good stuff:

http://www.defenselink.mil/heroes/

Second off:

The Hollywood Reporter, umm, reported that Petty Officer Luttrell (Navy Cross), the sole survivor of that Afghanistan ambush a few years back that was big news in some circles is going to have his story make it to the big screen. Peter Berg is going to direct.

Their story deserves and needs to be told just like anyone else who is on the ground and doing the dirty work (not me). BZ Univeral.

Very shortly, I will be a DV and silly servant. Mine was dumb and a true accident not involved with anything glamorous. All I will say about that and don't plan on ever posting again about it. Already changed my location and will be in Indianapolis.

Well, least you know why I was at Bliss or, at least, not at sea.

That story though, I still remember when it happened. The way the bits and pieces came out, how Al Quaeda claimed to have our two missing guys. Then, one was found alive and the last body recovered.

Then, after all of that, learning that a couple of the injured gave up their lives to give time to the two who could get away. This wasn't some movie filled with artificial heroics, these were guys we all knew, some have served with, who volunteered for some serious training, willingly accepted the hardest missions, and when the chips were really down, did what we would all wish we could do in those circumstances.

There are hundreds and thousands of stories of very very heroic deeds that are not being told. Seeing even one come out and everyone forget the politics for a minute and focus on the kids like we all say we are is a big deal.
