Kentucky: Kentucky wrapped up its final scrimmage of fall camp August 21st and is now turning its attention to Eastern Kentucky, the Wildcats first opponent.
There are still a few positions on the depth chart that have yet to be finalized, but most are settled as Kentucky looks to have its best season in years.
One position that has been settled for the Wildcats is that of backup quarterback. Those duties will now fall into the hands of redshirt freshman Mike Hartline, who like preseason All-SEC quarterback Andre Woodson, is big (6-6) and athletic. Hartline will see action this year and it may come during the home opener.
Although Kentucky has one of the best all-purpose backs in the country in Rafael Little, the coaching staff is also high on freshmen Derrick Locke and Brandon Jackson. Locke is a 5-10, 180-pound speedster who is also a track star. Jackson, listed at 5-11, 202, was a former high school standout in Oregon who somehow found his way to Lexington. Both have great explosion and should play big roles in the Cats offense this fall.
Defensively, senior Dominic Lewis has taken over the starting role at defensive end in place of the injured Nii Adej Oniku, while sophomore Jamil Paris looks to be emerging as a quality pass-rusher.
Sophomore kicker Lones Seiber has also been impressive this fall. He drilled a 51-yard field goal during the scrimmage and has been showing off a powerful leg all camp.
