I know better than to ask congressman Hal Rogers or the character Miles in the movie "Sideways," but...
Any fans of the old "Daniel Boone" television show (which is out on DVD now)?
Here is the 1970 opening sequence. I don't really remember this particular opening

Here is a foreign version of the opening that looks a little more like what I remember (if you disregard the foreign language).

I watched an episode on DVD recently. Fess Parker has really aged, although Edward Ames (Mingo) looks virtually the same except for the gray hair and some wrinkles now.
The Fess Parker Winery (known as "Frass Canyon" in the movie "Sideways") is on youtube.com, but it won't let me post a link for some reason. Supposedly, it is much better than the fictional version in the movie.

I love that show. I have seasons 1,2,3 and 5 on DVD and waiting on season 4. My 13 year old son and I watch an episode about every night at 7:00 P.M. This is a great way to spend some time with my son and get him interested in some Kentucky history, even though these are far from historical accurate. He is really into reading history now.
Since we started watching them, we went and watched an outdoor drama at the Shelbyville Parks going on for a few weeks called Squire Boone - Carved in Stone that is very accurate.

your story made me want to learn more about Squire Boone, as I had visited Squire Boone Caverns as a kid. Found some good info on him here. Man that guy was one fighter.
