I noticed that the NFL (at least the Colts and Saints) have started with the "C" on the jersey..Im assuming that means "captain" as each team had a offensive and defensive player with the "C"...has the NFL gone the way of the NHL? Dont like it:icon_mad:

Also did anyone notice the lime green stickers on the back of the helmets of both Manning and Brees? They were the only ones with them...anyone know?

This is just a guess on my part, but don't they have radio equipment in the QB's helmet? Could be related to that.:shrug1:

I believe there's a new rule in the NFL about radio equipment on the offense and defense. One guy on defense is allowed to have a radio in his helmet, and he'll be the guy who calls the plays for the other players. I assume this is the C, and the offense would have one as well (naturally the quarterback).

I just happened to catch them ask John Clayton on Sportscenter about the "little green sticker" and he confirmed DenCat's theory that it denotes the one helmet allowed by the league to have radio equipment installed for the QBs...good job DenCat...

as for a better explanation of both the sticker and the captain's patch I was finally able to find this...

Wouldn't their be a way to intercept the signal and spy on the conversation? Maybe I am just a conspiracy theorist, but it seems plausible.

It probably is possible, but is it worth the effort? I am sure each team has their own names and codes for plays and would be difficult for others the decypher what they are talking about. Just my opinion/

For sake of argument, let's say they are able to listen in and then pick up a guy off the waiver wire from an upcoming opponent. Maybe it is farfetched....but maybe it could happen?

no different than "stealing" hand signals or plays signaled in from play boards on the sidelines...I think they are probably so complicated that by the time they are "deciphered" by "the spy" the ball has been snapped...Ive also seen it where one team's communication goes down and to be fair the officials disable the other team's until it is fixed...

If this is true, I owe boomdaddy an apology. I guess it would be worth someone's trouble.

I second that apology, I saw the ticker on ESPN News and the Pats may be penalized upcoming draft picks...:icon_redface:
