I hope it's not too early in the week to start this thread. Since there's been so much anticipation for this game I thought I would start it early.
This shapes up to be the best game of the series so far. Both teams have dynamic offenses who can score on just about anyone. If UK can put some pressure on Brohm they have good chance of outscoring the Cards. But if Brohm is given plenty of time to throw he will pick the Cats apart. I think Brooks will come up with something to get just enough pressure and I look for Cats win a high scoring game that will have the Commonwealth talking about for years to come. Also I expect UL to be a little confused about this idea about playing on Saturdays and be off rythm for this game.

Who ever has the ball last -- wins.
My prediction UK 48 - UL 47.

I think UK runs the ball and has fairly long ball control drives. This takes up clock and limits possessions thus keeping the score lower.

I'm going to say this one will be shockingly low-scoring at the half (14-13 UofL), but the touchdowns will pick up in the second.
I've been confident in the Cats thus far, but I think UofL comes in loose. This is our biggest game in years; UofL has been through some battles.
Louisville 45
Kentucky 31
(I'm the same guy that picked Georgia to beat USC by "two or three touchdowns," though, so what do I know?)

I don't think it will be a one point game as that likely means a missed PAT or a try for two. COuld be 2 FG's vs. a TD, but doubt it.
High scoring I agree. But with even scoring, hard to rack up too many points on either side. So I say 45-42.

Oh yes, the winner. Well, despite the way higher hype for the other side so far, we've shown more I believe. Yes, UK!
My biggest fear for this game is that UK comes out tight and ready to throw the knockout punch right away while UL comes out loose and poised to play a smarter game and we get down by two scores early. If that happens, I can see Louisville beating us by a score as we rally late but fall short. If we come out well on our first couple of drives, I think we can pull out the victory. But it's going to take a 60 minute effort.
That's about as far as I'll go with a prediction.

Our defense is not quite up to the task, at this point, to beat a top-10 team.

I always fear getting down two scores because how often does the down team win after that - 1 in 10?
But LV has more to lose than we do at this stage. So they're the tighter ones IMO.

Two computer ranking system say UK by 9-13 points. Vegas Bookies are clueless. They said we'd beat Kent by 14. Won by 36. And we did not play our best.
UK 35
UL 17.
Brohm gets sacked five times and throws two interceptions! Allen will be lucky to rush for 90 yards!
Our four (Little, Dixon, Smith, Conner) headed monster running attack will run all over UL defense!

I am clueless about this game. I have no idea what so ever how it is going to play out. Both Offense and Defense for the Cats is legit. But you also can say that about UL as well. It will be surprising if UL wins IMO I think its Kentucky's TIME TO SHINE!!!!

Prepare yourself for a thriller, a great game, and an instant classic as far as UK football goes. Kentucky comes out hot and uses their momentum to take and early 14 point lead. It doesn't take long for Louisville to answer though and with 12 minutes left in the fourth the score is tied 38 all. Then a big play by Little busts the game open and UK takes the lead. U of L is way to good to just lay down though, so they march down the field and tie it back up. UK pulls a two minutes drill and wins on a field goal 48-45. Brohm has a big game throwing for over two hundred yards but Dre'wood, Lyons, and Little have a bigger game and pull UK into the top 25:icon_smile:

Let me say this about the game if UK doesnt have a consistent pass rush on Brohm-- he will eat UK alive. You cannot let him set back in the
pocket at pick you apart. You saw what the pass rush did for LSU and Florida in the bowl games and how Rutgers kept the heat on Lousiville and took them to the wood shed. He UK is content to rush only down lineman they will get beat. I hope that have been holding something back in the first two games and bring the heat in the one..That's just my opinion.:icon_mrgreen:

Here are your announcers for the game on ESPN Classic, per www.dbsforums.com. As I predicted Bill Curry would be doing this game. He has been relagated to the ESPN Classic games the last couple of seasons. Also for the XM people the game is on channel 199.

This is the best I've felt about this game in years. However, Kentucky has more "3 and outs" than Louisville seems to have. We seem to self destruct on some series and though Louisville makes foolish penalties they never seem to cost them getting at least a fg on the drive.
The difference to me is the kicking game and Louisville has a big advantage there. Carmody goes 3 for 3 and Seiber goes 1 for 3 and that will be the difference.

UL:mad:- Losers
It is slated to be a shootout but we wont know until it plays out on the field so Im not gonna call the score.
We need to get the run going, and stop it on defense. We have to have a consistant passrush from our ends, and we need our special teams to be "special" like we know they can be, the return game and the kickers need to be on point.
Oh and by the way just like in the UGA game last season, Lindley(sp?) gets a pick to save the game...write it down.

I have the exact same feeling I had against Ole Miss last year.
If you think back to last year, before the season started most of us had penciled in losses to Louisville, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, and LSU. We were pretty sure wins would come against Texas State, Central Michigan, and Louisiana Monroe. We knew that to be bowl-eligible, the Cats would have to win 3/4 against Ole Miss, South Carolina (well, some had that game on the certain loss list), and Mississippi State.
So going into Ole Miss, which was the first of those four pivotal games, I felt confident that the team had enough talent to win the game, but because I had believed the team was ready to turn the corner so many times, only to watch them come out flat, blow a huge early lead, or have some freak play go against them to cost them the game, I expected something like that to happen again.
In hindsight, the win over Ole Miss last year doesn't seem that big. But if they hadn't won that game, who knows where the season would have gone from there? Obviously the win against Georgia helped change the perception of Kentucky football from "horrible" to "halfway decent." A win over Louisville takes them from "halfway decent" to "solid team that can beat anyone."
Almost exactly a year later, I have the same feeling. To me, the game today represents a chance for the program to take the next step. Can they do it? They certainly have the talent, depth, and experience to match Louisville for the first time since 2003. And even though they held on to beat Georgia and Clemson last year, to me, the demons of past Marty Moore and Chase Harp fumbles or Devery Henderson hail mary catches or fatigued-induced fourth quarter collapses aren't totally gone, despite solid evidence from the last two seasons that this team has a different attitude than past teams that had a defeatist attitude and seemed to be waiting for the proverbial other shoe to proverbially drop.
So my prediction:
Louisville 41
Kentucky 24*
*-But we will beat either Tennessee or Florida

Cats pressure Brohm and run the football, eating clock and keeping our defense off the field. Cats win, 38-27.
Caveat..............it is hard to eat clock with 40, 50, 60 yard scampers all the time as MTSU did and as we could do today. It could be a shootout, even if we are not trying to make it one. Louisville could be so bad on defense and so good on offense that it could foil our game plan and make it a big time shootout, which favors the Cards. But I still think, if we pressure Brohm and get some stops and/or turnovers, Cats win.
