Eli out for a month with a separated shoulder, as reported by ESPN.
Parcell's dogged him. Talking about Leftwich.
I'm hearing on ESPN that Eli Manning MAY be out a month for the Giants with a separated shoulder, which would mean that our boy Jared Lorenzen would get the starting nod, which could be the start of something very special for him. He's a talented QB who could make waves with this opportunity.
Of course, people are making talks about them trying to pick Byron Leftwich up (or Tim Hasselbeck), so who knows? It'll be interesting to see.
Move this to the Pro forum if that makes more sense, but I figured that it would be good pub for J-Lo to put it here where more people commute.

JL has looked pretty good, and some have opined that maybe he has looked better than Eli...
It's easy to argue that Eli is overrated because of his brother.

Well I hope Jared does well. We are going to the Miami-NY game in London on the 28th of Oct. We are going to Paris along with my wife's sister and husband and 2 other couples who lives in Ft Lauderdale and are season ticket holders with the Dolphins. He requested tickets and got approved so we are going to take the train from Paris to London for the game while the women sight see around London. I'm no Dolphin fan by no means (Cincinnati Bengal fan)but I am planning on wearing my UK gear to the game just because of Jared. So if you see someone wearing Wildcat gear with some Dolphin fans thats me. I'll more than likely just confuse some of the UK (United Kingdom) people at the game.

This is an excellent opportunity for Jared, I think he has the ability to make good things happen, what has yet to be seen is if he can play a full 4 quarters of balls to the wall football. He hasn't had to do that in almost 3 years. I'm sure he is in great condition (by his standards) he actually hasn't looked as chunky this year as he has in the past.
I don't think Manning loses his job to Jared, Manning did play well against the Cowboys before going down, but this is Jareds chance to solidify himself as a legitimate NFL QB who could eventually command some serious attention on the free agent market or worthy trade material for a team that needs a starting QB.

I wasn't trying to argue that Eli would lose his job, just that to say that JL CAN'T be the answer at NY for a month is wrong. He can be, and he has proven it in the preseason. He played a lot, and well. As well as Eli did.
J-Lo versus Farve.......oh yeah.....that is a game to watch.
When and who else is on the giants schedule for the next 4 weeks.
Jarrad vs Farve in a tough man contest would be interesting.

This should be fun. Really hoping Jared does well.
Don't understand the Eli-bashing. I thought he looked really good last night. They certainly scored enough points to win.

You didn't see me basking Eli.

I just said that JL looked as good as Eli did and that the common argument is that Eli is overrated because of his brother. That may be as much of a challenge for him as a benefit I think. I certainly wasn't trying to bask, bash, or anything him. He could be overrated though... :)
It could be that ESPN gets egg on it's face of JL's success the next 4 weeks. It's sports. :)

Lorenzen will be good but not be one of the players (Tony Romo) that takes the NFL by storm. He will be solid and do his part to get wins but the running game will have to step up, but unfortunately for New York Brandon Jacobs is out with a strained knee so Lorenzen will have to rely on the back up to take pressure off of him, not to mention the recievers of the Giants will have to make plays.

I'm thinking about him for fantasy...
is there a Giants running game? Lots of yards, lots of punts, lots of completions, no interceptions (punts) is of large fantasy value.

By the way they play Green Bay, Washington, Philly, and the Jets. So he matchs up with Favre, Campbell, McNabb, and Pennington. Solid D's but not the Bears, Chargers, or Ravens so he should be able to take advantage

The Giants are saying that the ESPN story is not true and that Eli is day-to-day. I hope this is true because Jared has never and will never look as good as Eli did last night. Eli probably is overrated because of Peyton but he is still much better than Jared. In my opinion this is the worst thing that could happen to Lorenzen. Right now he is making good money to sit on the sidelines as the backup QB. If he is forced to play for an extended period of time he will be exposed as a big arm who lacks the decision making necessary to be a QB in the NFL. I hope I am wrong about Jared but as a Giants fan I am hoping Eli is ok.

JL makes better decisions than did Vick.

Those are all better than average defenses even still. Green Bay had the 4th best defense overall last year if I am not mistaken, and Washington has had very solid defenses the last couple of years. I think the Jets will have a better defense than Philly, but either way, this isn't exactly the Kansas City Cheifs that he will be playing.

NFL teams are notorious liars. I'm not saying they are.... just to take anything with a grain of salt.
The only reason the Giants are saying the story is untrue is because they are getting a second opinion on Eli's condition, which is normal in sports. I'd say that he is likely going to be out the full month, or somewhere close to it. If he isn't and he plays, he'll likely hurt himself even more and could be out longer. The Giants will not take a chance on hurting Eli even more, not with the investment they have made in him.

Yeah your right they are above average defenses, I never said they weren't. I said they were the best in the NFL. He's not going to have easy games but i would not call Philly or New York the Bears. They are solid but he should still do well

Here's the latest.
NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports that New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning has a separated shoulder and is expected to miss at least the next two games.
Schefter reports that Manning could return as early as Sept. 30, when the Giants host the Eagles.
The Giants, however, would not confirm the shoulder separation. Manning called his injury a bruised shoulder. Giants coach Tom Coughlin said it was sprained. The Giants public relations staff labeled it a bruised acromioclavicular (AC) joint.

Hey, I am a big Bears fan, so I will never argue that those teams are better.
