I found this on the UK website:

Kentucky’s thrilling 40-34 Governor’s Cup victory over Louisville drew the highest rating in the history of ESPN Classic, according to Dave Brown, ESPN vice-president for programming. The game’s final national rating was .78, but jumped to 1.84 for the last 30 minutes, as UK engineered a last-minute touchdown drive to earn the win.

The rating does not include those watching the broadcast on local stations in Lexington (WKYT) and Louisville (WHAS). Brown also pointed out that ESPN’s College Gameday Final, which recaps the day in college football, began its Saturday night show by recapping the UK-UofL contest.

And as Matt Jones pointed out, that puts to bed the notion put forth by some that the game wasn't reaching a national audience.

The fact that the viewership jumped so high in the last half hour shows that people heard what was happening and tuned in.

Someone needs to send this to Dr. Bo! He and his CJ cronies should see this!

Good find. This does drive a nail in the argument that UofL fans had about exposure. The game last year on regular ESPN did not have a much larger audience. In fact, with the additional showing of the game on Classic it might have blown away the ratings of last years game.

MB and RB know exactly what they are doing.

Hey Folks,

According to ESPN, the game last night was the highest rated program ever on ESPN classic. We have the best fans. The first rating was a .83 but in the final 30 minutes it was 1.84!!!! Allthis doesn't include lexington or louisville. This means that of all televisions across the nation, 1.84% of them were tuned in!!!

If UK can stay just competitive in the SEC they will be on one the ESPN channels nearly every week of every season. The key is staying competitive and playing an exciting style of football. Something UK has not always done.
