What do you think about that? Id say if we win 7 or more this year (which I think we will do) then Rich Brooks is coach of the year.

SEC or nationally?

I think 9-3 would guarantee SEC COY maybe even NCOY honors, but if we only go 4-4 the rest of the way I think COY would be difficult for him to achieve.

We won 8 last year and have everybody back. If we only win 7 this year, he is not worthy.

If Brooks wins 8 regular season games his only competition in the conference would be Meyer at Florida or Miles at LSU if they lose 1 or 0 regular season games, Richt or Spurrier with 10 or more wins, Saban at Alabama if he wins 9 or more in the regular season, Croom at Mississippi State if they go bowling or Johnson at Vanderbilt if they go bowling. It is safe to say that Nutt, Fulmer, Richt, Orgeron and Auburn are pretty much out of the running already.

If Brooks wins 9 regular season games (with losses to only Florida, LSU, Georgia or South Carolina), Meyer or Miles need a national championship to best him, Saban or Spurrier 10 wins or more, and Croom or Johnson a big visible upset en route to a bowl game.

If Brooks wins 10 games, only Meyer or Miles with a national championship or Saban or Spurrier going to the SEC championship game or Croom or Johnson bowling above the lower tier bowls are competition.

Certainly speculation, and just my opinion - but I'd sure like to see if I am right.

I think it may depend on what Sylvester Croom does as well. If he pulls off beating UK and getting 7 or 8 wins, then he's got COY.

If Rich Brooks gets 8 regular-season wins and a bowl win, then he gets it. Also, age & experience does matter somewhat, IMO. Brooks may get more votes because of what he has had to overcome here.

Saban could get it with 9 or more wins.
