Steve Ferguson is the quarterback for Louisville Eastern (Myron Pryor's alma mater). He's a very athletic player and, like Keenan Burton, could probably star at many positions but plays QB in high school because he's the most gifted and able athlete on his team. Last night he ran for 154 yards and three touchdowns on just eight carries as his 5-1 team beat Southern 35-10.
Last season in only 9 games he rushed for 1,070 yards - an average of 118.9 per game - and had 14 rushing TDs. In those same nine games he also passed for 1,070 yards and completed 78 of 145 passes (54% - pretty good for a high school QB, especially one whose forte is the ground game) for an average of 118.9 yards per game and 8 TDs.
His athleticism isn't limited to football; he also plays basketball for Eastern.
Trinity High School football coach Bob Beatty after this year's game against Eastern: "The defense did a great job against (Eastern quarterback Steve Ferguson). He's so athletic, but they not only contained him, but we had to be physical with him, and they did the job."
Trinity lineback Wes Weitlauf: "We stressed being physical this week, and we knew last year that Ferguson thrashed us."
