Im planning on getting my tickets from ticketmaster. What time do they start giving them out online Saturday? When should I get on? Do I have to pay with a credit card? Any info or advice would be appreciated

You had better be sitting at your pc with fingers ready at 7:00 am sharp. Yes, you must pay with a credit card and you can print your tickets. Good luck! I will be right there with you trying to get decent tickets.

Ticketmaster emails the tickets to you. So no rush on printing, lol. But, you do need to be online by at least 6:45, I'll be on by 6:30 though. You can get 4 tickets per credit card. So keep that in mind as well.

2 for 4 or 2 dollars a piece?

NOT each. 2 dollars per order of 4 tickets. Just $2 total.

So if I don't have a printer and I get lucky and through, does that mean I can't get the tickets, or can I pick them up at ticketmaster? I am new at this, so I need a little advice here. Thanks.

you can have them mailed to you, and I may be wrong about this part, but I think you can also get them at the Will Call the day of Madness.

Per the ukathletics website..."Tickets are free again this year. When ordering tickets online, there is a $1.25 service fee per ticket, and an overall processing fee of $2.80 per order (total of $7.80 for four tickets ordered online). There is a limit of four tickets per person. Duplicate orders will automatically be cancelled."

I'll be on there too, trying my luck. Usually stand in line, but I've been on vacation and could not line up until tomorrow morning early...so, we'll try this way this year.

======================================

I agree. The system is broken. Apparently there were not any tickets really available on ticketmaster. I think it is time to change the distribution system. Keep a few hundred select tickets for those who can and want to wait in line for days at the ticket window. But have a lottery system in place that allows everyone a real chance for tickets. Winners would be automatically notified via email, and would have one week to call, email, or come in person to pick up their tickets at the ticket window. Any tickets not claimed by 5:00 pm Friday night would be added to the "pool" of tickets available to those who stand in line for the Saturday morning distribution. The current system sucks. I had a relative change the time of the wedding rehearsal on October 12 so I could get back to Lexington in time for Big Blue Madness. Guess he can change it back, I 'll just record it like everyone else. Geesh

I'd like an answer, also. What I'd REALLY like to know is exactly how the ticket distribution is designed.....how many tickets are available, how many are "reserved" for coaches, friends, family, recruits, media; how many are truly available to those who wait in line, how many are truly available "on-line" - supposedly - etc, etc. How can they sell all the Ticketmaster tickets in less than 10 seconds??? Something smells very rotten. I said it already on another thread, what we need is a lottery system that allows everyone a fair chance for tickets. Reserve some prime tickets for those who wait in line, but put most of them up for grabs for the rest of us. If we don't get them through the lottery system the week before, we can decide if we want to wait in line at Memorial for those tickets. The current system is broken and needs to be fixed.

It's against the law in Kentucky, but not in some states, to resale tickets above face value. It would be too much of a hassle to track down IP numbers and find out who's a Kentucky resident and who isn't just to get someone on a misdemeanor scalping charge.

About the only time you see the statute enforced is when the scalpers try to do this outside the stadium/arena and get arrested.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I didn't make myself very clear. I meant an INTERNET lottery where each person who had a valid account with the UK ticket office could submit ONE request for tickets. The computer would randomly choose the winners and send them a notification email of the seat locations, and how they could claim their tickets within the following week. Unclaimed tickets would be added to the pool for those in line at Memorial. How would that be unfair?

I am shocked that most of you guys (if any) that were online at exactly 7 got told they were sold out. That is just rediculous in my opinion... its not even possible.

I just got done camping out and there were a lot of people at Memorial waiting but there is no way that there arn't tickets available online. I feel the way the vochures were passed out this week for those of us waiting was extremely unorganized as they didn't even pay attention to the number or the type of vouchure I had.

This seriously calls for a redesign of this whole system because I honestly feel the Athletic department blows this off because its free. I told a man this morning that the system was screwed up and he looked at me like I had a hole in my head. I honestly don't think thy ccare too much. I wouldn't mind paying for tickets if i knew that there would be a fair way of distributing them to everyone.

How fast was the line moving? The entire point of getting these online is so I didn't have to walk 15 minutes, just so I could stand in line. I just wanted to be in the building, I'd be fine up high.

And, yea, I joined so I could read and discuss this. I didn't even know this was here... yay Google.

Someone in line with vouchers must have put them up for sale.
The current bid is $227.00 for 4 tickets in the lower level.
The first bid was placed this morning at 03:21 eastern.

$227 for four tickets that are supposed to be free.

Because nobody on the internet has multiple identities ;).
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++=
The criterion would be one internet address and one mailing address. Yes, many people have more than one email address.....I guess you could put down friends email addresses and mailing addresses. Maybe you limit the number of tickets to 2 per person, or charge something for the tickets. Heck, I don't have all the answers. Do you think the current system works well, or do you have a better idea?

I was right behind Wildcatcrazy in line, with voucher # 38, but I would love to know exactly how many people were in front of me in line by the time the tickets were distributed. I would say at least twice the 37 that were supposed to be there. Maybe the system stinks, maybe it doesn't- what definitely stinks is the complete lack of enforcement of "rules"- such as the whole voucher deal this year. We were led to believe that the vouchers would end all conflicts concerning those that invite 50 of their closest friends to join their group at 5 AM Saturday, and it did absolutely nothing, no because it was a bad idea, but because UK totally ignored their own rules and guidelines.
Anyways, sorry to hear that those of you that didn't camp out weren't able to get tickets online.

It's been fine up until now. Someone somewhere effed this thing up. As much as it sucks, if it's actually sold out, the people who showed up in line should be rewarded first. If that means they get all the tickets, meh, I guess that's the way it is.

I don't think it works that way. I believe they probably divide up the tickets with some available at the window and others available through Ticketmaster. Otherwise, they would be handing tickets through the window to one person, while someone else was ordering the same tickets on the 'net. I don't think that would work very well.....

I know it can't do much for those of us who got screwed by Ticketmaster, but I filed a Better Business Bureau complaint against them this morning. I basically said that it was unacceptable for a large corporation like that to have such a crappy server and website. I know there are a lot of Cat fans out there, but seriously, this wasn't the first day ticket sales for the next U2 tour or anything. For the insane premiums and surcharges they hit you with for other concert tickets (or the retarded charge for being able to freaking PRINT your tickets), you'd think they could be a little better in the IT department.

I'm not sure what kind of action BBB will take (probably none) but it helped me to get it off my chest. I'm suggesting several of you exercise your voice and complain as well.

PJ
09-29-2007, 10:33 AM
You have every right to be mad, but Ticketmaster wasn't expecting that many hits on their server. You can blame ticketmaster, but you can't. They didn't know 4,000 UK fans would log into their site during the same time region, or the hour before and after 7am.

I feel for ya man, that's why I didn't take a chance with ticketmaster and drove and hour and half for them.

I understand that a lot of people logged on at the same time, but the point I'm making is that all those log ons should not have crashed their pitiful website. 200,000 of us could get on amazon.com right now and buy something and it probably wouldn't bring the website to its knees.

I live here in Lexington, but by the time I got down to Memorial (after fretting whether to leave the computer), everyone had packed up and gone. Ah well, football game in a couple hours ought to smooth out my mood.

This is by no means the worst experience I've ever had with Ticketmaster. Admitedly, waking up at 7:00 this morning to get tickets, and then not being able to get onto ticketmaster.com until after they were all sold out sucks terribly. But, I got tickets to a concert a few months ago. The ticket price was $37. I ordered two tickets. After tm.com was finished adding all of their access charges, my total was $97.50. You do the math. They have control over every major venue in the country.
