After all the upsets this weekend, when we beat the Cocks next Thursday can we entertain the thought of just maybe being in the hunt for the NC?

I fully realize how crazy that sounds.....or is it?

If not the NC than a very major BCS bowl?

I will go as far to say that UK has as legitimate a shot as any other team in the SEC East of playing in the SEC Championship game.

I was just thinkin the same thing....

If we can beat Spurrier and the Gamecocks things will start to get very, very interesting.

In my opinion the South Carolina game is the biggest game in the history of the program. We are starting to build up some steam in the eyes of the media and that is HUGE. A loss, and they'll be sayin' well we must not have been very good. I know we are a good team regardless but these so-called experts make or break seasons for teams every year. Coach Brooks has done a marvelous job not letting this team get a huge head. Here's hoping he goes out and deflates Spurriers'!!

When the Schedule came out I said So.Carolina is the turning point on our schedule.

Not becuase of the team but the date of the game

4 days to prepare and travel.. It is really gonna show what this team is

The good news win or lose we have 9 days to prepare for LSU

We can dream as big as we want to. Not all dreams come true, but we can dream. Dream of 14-0 and the national championship. However, my advice is don't let your dreams spoil the present reality. 5-0 and sitting alone atop the of the SEC east is a pretty nice reality for now, whatever happens for the rest of the season. One more bit of advice, the only way we can win is to play our opponents one game at a time. South Carolina is the most important game we have because they're the next team on our schedule. The Gamecocks are good enough that, if we're looking ahead when we play them, THEY WILL FLAT OUT BEAT US! Maybe we're good enough to beat the Owls even if our game is a little off, but South Carolina is way better than Florida Atlantic.

You make good points, and I agree, but given what the remainder of our schedule looks like, IMO it's HIGHLY unlikely the team will be looking past an opponent from week to week.

Our team is hungry. They believe in themselves. They know they have unfinished business this week as every week. They look past no one. They beat a sound FAU team with an excellent coach. They want to beat South Carolina as bad as they will want to beat Lsu the next week and whoever the next, etc. They are on a mission to make a name for this university and for themselves and for us the fans. Meet any of the players after a game and you find the nicest young men on the planet. We are living a truly blessed football season and I am as pumped as I have ever been for any UK sporting event. I am enjoying this year more than I could ever put into context..with the great tailgate before the game..the tough, hardnosed, aggressive play on the field..and the post-tailgate event with some really really special young men coming by to hang out..why if I wasn't a grown man I would probably be dropping some tears on the keyboard. However, I still have enough kid in me to cry and yesterday at the tailgate after the game is when I could have done it. The joy and awe in my son's eyes as the players made him feel special will be ingrained in me forever and a day. I may just cry now..

If our name was one of the SEC traditional heavies everyone in the media would be talking about our tough but advantageous schedule with South Carolina, Georgia, and Vanderbilt (beatable) remaining as SEC road games with LSU, Florida, Miss. State, and Tennessee at home.

Atlanta is looking like a distinct possibility with a win over South Carolina on Thursday.

For now, we're one of only 15 teams in America that is undefeated. Only one of six with a win, on the road, against a BCS opponent with a .500 or better record.

Drink it in. I know I've had plenty to wash down my crow after my "turn thoughts to basketball" line earlier before this run began.

Man I love this team and these wonderful young men who are giving the fans a season that we never believed possible. College football talking heads are mentioning "OUR WILDCATS" in discussions about who should be in the top five in the country this week. To me that is beyond amazing.

I was in college when the Cats smashed through the SEC and went 10-1 in 1977. It was great fun and an amazing team, but tempered by the fact that we were on probation and not able to play in a bowl game. If we had been able to play post season we would have probably have played in the Sugar Bowl which was the SEC's major bowl before the BCS came into play.

I can't fathom playing for a National Championship, but I can see, with a few breaks, MY KENTUCKY WILDCATS playing in the SEC Championship game in Atlanta. I truly didn't think I would ever live to see that, but this team, and this wonderful coaching staff, have put us in the position where that is a very real possibilty.

No matter what happens in the next few weeks, on this beautiful Sunday morning in the Bluegrass, all dreams are possible.

GO BIG BLUE!!!

I couldn't agree more, however, I do not believe that this staff nor our young men will be thinking of any game but South Carolina come Thursday...Even IF they were underestimating them, (which I highly doubt that Brooks would let happen for even a second!) I have no doubt that the staff and the players are likely as hungry as I am to hang a W on Spurrier!!! So I believe fully that they will come out prepared and ready to play. True enough that it's a short week, but let us all not forget it is also a short week for SC too...so I really do not feel that is much of a factor. I will say, on the looking ahead scale (and obviously we, as fans, are going to do that to some degree...even believing that the next game is the most important) that the extra time to prepare for LSU will be a huge help...but I'm not even there right now...right now all I can think about is how deliriously happy it would make me to watch Spurrier go DOWN!!!!

Dare I say that the short week against S Car may help us? It can't be easy for a team to prepare for our offense. IMHO it is our strength, offense, against their strength, defense. Our weakness(not weak but compared to the offense)defense, against their weakness, offense. Balanced as we are on offense no team can load up on the run because Andre' will burn them, load up against the pass and Rafael will burn them. You know Raffie will be ready to go against his home state. His last and best chance to lay an L against them. It may be only 4 days, but IMHO we will be ready.

GO BIG BLUE!!!

Beautiful post, Gunsmoke, especially the last part about the the type of young men we have on this team. :) I saw your son Dillon's picture with a couple of those special young men on this special team. How happy your precious son looked in that picture, and that brought a big smile to my face. He will never forget that moment, and I know it's the same for his dad. :)

Too, yes, the guys BELIEVE in themselves, and I, you, and so many here BELIEVE in them, too. May this beautiful season continue with a win Thursday night. :)

Regardless how it turns out, though, I will be loving these guys just as much and pulling just as hard in each and every game that follows. They're special guys who will have a special season and a special bowl game, one way or the other. THAT is what matters, and, yes, I reapeatedly used the word SPECIAL on purpose. :) GO CATS!!!

Totally agree with majority on this thread that they will not look ahead of this game. These seniors and this staff had been the laughing stock of the SEC for their first 2 years. Even after last year they didnt get respect from the rest of the conference. These guys remember what that visor wearing SOB has said about THEM in the past. This group of seniors have endured and matured so much in 3 1/2 years that I'm sure they don't look past any game and treat every game as important. CRB has these boys motivated and capable of playing with anyone in the nation right now. At the first of the year I said that we could possibly beat anyone except Florida and LSU. After seeing what this team is made of inside and the athleic ability of this team, now I'm saying they are capable of beating anyone, IN THE NATION. With this being said: Coach Brooks, seniors, underclassmen, offense, defense and special teams keep this Wildcat Train rolling.:thumbup:
