LEXINGTON, Ky. – On a day when the University of Kentucky football team will need all the help it can get, the Wildcats could be without a key weapon.
UK coach Rich Brooks said today at his weekly news that tailback Rafael Little, the Southeastern Conference’s third-leading rusher, is questionable for Saturday’s game against No. 1 Louisiana State at Commonwealth Stadium.
Little has a thigh bruise that is worse that hurts more than it has in the past two weeks, Brooks said, but the Cats’ coach is hopeful his star tailback can play.

Looks like a good week to let Locke out of the stable and let him run.

Raf has had rotten luck staying healthy during his career at UK. If anyone deserves to be healthy and have a standout game that results in an upset win for his team, he does!

i'd say it'll be hard to keep little off the field for this game.

I cant remember Little staying healthy for a whole year. Has he? Think about just how sick his numbers would be right now for his career if he had a healthy college career. Even with injuries he is only 1 of 4 people ever to rush for 2000 yds and recieve for 1000yds. Come on trainers UK needs you big right now, GET LITTLE HEALTHY.

Maybe he needs to get 100% for the rest of the season after the Tigers.

Little's status questionable which means he could still play. As I recall, he was questionable prior to the Vandy game last year and proceeded to run wild against the Dores. Dixon and Locke provide good depth. I feel that Locke could be utilized more in games. Also, I thought that Smith was available for the LSU game. And what about Moncell Allen? Wasn't he recruited as a rb? I realize he is a freshman but he still has some great ability.
If he's not close to 100% and could keep aggravating the injury, I hope he sits. Sure he'll be missed but we have other capable backs and we still have half a season to go. We need a healthy Raffy to finish out the season.

Same feelings here, RV. Too, that comes from someone who knows quite a bit about aggravating injuries. :icon_lol:

If I remember correctly, didn't we keep Little and a few others out of the LSU game last year. That was one of Brooks best moves due to the fact that we went on to beat Georgia and everyone else besides UT. I think it would be wise to let Little rest up for Florida.

Amen to that RV. However I think poodoo maybe available for this game. ;)

Poodoo will be an instant Heisman candidate if she gets any PT.
Wasn't Little questionable for the SC game?

I mean, she is after all, the unofficial Wildcat Team Mom, what possible greater recognition could she want to attain? :icon_mrgreen:;):widcat:

Cathy, I don't know if you remember the name Carey Eaves, he was one of our star running backs for the Seneca Redskins back in the day. In his junior season he had a deep thigh bruise that lasted the whole season. Every time he played it swelled up like a watermelon and was very tender. He hardly practiced and missed maybe 25% of the games, the ones he played in he played with pain.
It's a very tough injury to get 100% over. I don't now what the decision will be regarding his status this Saturday but the fact that it was worse than ever after the SC game is not positive. If he sits I look forward to seeing more Dixon and Locke and maybe even a surprise few carries from Conner, Grinter and Allen.
Has anyone heard about Smith's ankle?

Has anyone heard about Smith's ankle? UedK quote.
Per today's H-L, Smith and lb'er Johnny Williams, as well, are questionable for the LSU game. That is according to coach Brooks.

I also agree with RV. one reason we are a good team is because we have capable...very capable backups at Little's position. even if Alphoso has to sit too I for one would be confident with Dixon and Locke running the show. Besides, isn't LSU playing without Doucet ?

Interesting and not good for Little, as even playing with pain naturally hurts his game. :icon_sad: From my recent medical experiences and advice--and I think I am thus officially out of the Heisman race, guys, because of my tendonitis AND possibly a bruise, ironically :icon_lol:--it will not heal without REST. Thus, again, like others, I tend to want him to rest if his injury has indeed worsened.
I just feel for Rafael, besides for the team, as he had been so happy to be back to his old self before the season. Also, a healthy Little makes us a much stronger team. Best of luck to Rafael. Like others, though, I am thankful we have some strong backups at the position.
By the way, in answer to someone's question, LSU's Doucet is practicing and may return to action Saturday.

If Little isn't able to go, I look forward to our cajun version of Natrone Means getting a few carries against LSU

Of course I remember him. He was a thorn in Eastern's side. I never missed a Friday night football game. Isn't life funny? You and Fred going to Seneca and playing. Wonder how many times I heard your all's name called. Also, didn't know thight bruises could be so serious. Little needs to get well.

It does seem like a good week to let Locke out, but he is a small guy. this LSU defense is big and powerful to say the least. Even though he has been effective in his past few games, i dont think he will be able to do much against the defense of LSU. I still hope that if he does play he will be able to run all over em.

In the Florida game, they had trouble with the "power" running of Tebow.
I believe that with the outside speed of the LSU defense might negate any running to the outside; and we need to take a similar game plan to Florida's and run the ball right at Dorsey with Allen, Conner and Grinter (if Little is healthy)
