The last time LSU played a game while #1 in the AP poll (1959):

- LSU had to play on the road,

- against a lower ranked (but still ranked) SEC opponent (Tennessee),

- LSU's opponent was ranked in the teens in the AP poll (#13 to be exact),

- LSU's opponent was returning from a road game in the Carolinas,

. . . and LSU lost to the home underdog ranked lower in the polls.

#13 Tennessee 14, #1 LSU 13.

LSU was actually ranked #2 in the coaches' poll last week, but #1 in the AP poll, as was stated, FWIW.
