Micah is having a great senior year in basketball. Ft. Campbell is not a traditionally strong basketball program but last night they took Christian County to overtime before losing in the district championship. Earlier in the week they upset University Heights who was favored to win the 2nd region. Anyway, Micah will lead his team into the region tourney this week. Even though he might have to beat my alma mater to do it, I think it would be really cool to see him make the Sweet 16.
Another interesting note: Micah's high school coach is a woman, the only woman coaching a boys team in the state. Apparently they had to get rid of the previous coach and the players on the boys b'ball team approached this lady, who was Ft. Campbell's girl's coach at the time, and asked her to coach the boys! Last night on the radio she said Micah and one other inside player were the keys to the team's success. She made the comment that "Micah could probably have played Division 1 basketball if he had wanted to."
The more I hear about this kid the more excited I getabout seeing him in Commonwealth next year!
