with 2 Superstars (per Vitale)
How can a college team with 2 superstars over-achieve?
Unless one of the two superstars is the officials, then Vitale is blowing smoke.
2 superstars!
I guess the Lakers over-achieved when they had 2 superstars, too. :?

The cracks in the armor are starting to appear so Dukie V has to start spinning the damage control before the NCAA tourney to explain an early exit.

I have to say, I find it hard to believe that Dukie Vitale actually believes that Redick is emotionally tired. The biggest game of the regular season, facing your biggest rival, major national exposure, and Redick isn't emotionally juiced to go out and have a big game? You gotta be kidding me. So, I guess it was more important to set scoring records than to win big games? Isn't that what Vitale is saying, that Redick was so focused on setting Duke and ACC scoring records, that he just wore himself out...emotionally? How about the fact that when Redick isn't on the floor, Duke doesn't have another legit outside shooter. How about the minutes he has played and the responsibility he carries to score 30 points for Duke to win.
Sure, he probably is physically worn out and I can buy that. Weakness of the Duke team is not having scoring threats off the bench than contribute consistently enough to give Redick and Williams rest. So, he has to play a lot. He also has to work harder to get his shot off, since he's a perimeter focused scorer. That will lead to wearing the kid down.
Just don't give me this emotional boo hoo stuff. He's just simply tired as many have observed and been saying for the past few games.

Duke's roster consists of 6 Mickey D's AA and Shelden Williams. Williams would have been a burger boy had he not sat out more than half of his senior season on a sexual assault charges. That makes 7. Throw in McClure who was top 75 and Martynas Pocius, who was top 40, and Melchionni, who was top 100. That's 10 guys top 100, eight top 40. How the hell can they be considered over-achievers? If anything, they have underachieved. Vitale is so blinded by his man love of all things Duke.
They are kind of the opposite of Kentucky. We have gotten so used to non-McDonald's AAs over achieving, that we get ticked when guys like Sheray Thomas and Bobby Perry aren't world beaters. Duke has Micky D all-americans who underachieve, and they get to use it as an excuse for losing three whole games all year. Weird.
