Pundits had it wrong about SEC
YOUNG TALENT COULD MAKE GOOD LEAGUE ELITE NEXT YEAR
By John Clay

In a mood usually reserved for when our food runs out in the press box, we mudball throwers were having a fine time with the poor basketball fortunes of the SEC.
A league lacking in talent was our pre-season pronouncement. The coaching is suspect. Interest was waning. Surely that terrible trio foretold another down year for SEC hoops.
Ah, but here it is March, and things are looking up. A week from today, on Selection Sunday, there exists an excellent chance six league teams will earn an invitation to the NCAA Tournament. That's at least one and maybe two more than the ACC is likely to receive.
In fact, check out the latest Sagarin ratings, and the SEC ranks fourth among conferences, behind only the Big 10, Big East and ACC. The SEC also ranks fourth in strength of schedule.
