LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The longstanding tradition of assigning names to the University of Kentucky's most revered basketball teams takes a new twist today.

Move aside Rupp's Runts, the Fiddlin' Five and the Unforgettables. Tubby's Tykes take the court today.

Or at least that's the nickname Ravi Moss came up with to describe UK's starting lineup against Florida.

Following the Senior Day tradition of starting the players who are playing their final game at Rupp Arena, UK coach Tubby Smith said he'll start seniors Brandon Stockton, Preston LeMaster, Patrick Sparks and Moss, none of whom are taller than 6-feet-2.

Kentucky, Florida square off with first-round bye in SEC tournament at stake
March 4 2006

Kentucky has begun SEC tournament play in the quarterfinals every year since 1979. It needs to beat Florida to keep that streak alive.

The Wildcats (19-10, 9-6) and 17th-ranked Gators (23-6, 9-6) play for second place in the SEC East division and the accompanying first-round bye in the conference tournament when they conclude their regular seasons with a matchup at Rupp Arena on Sunday.

Kentucky hasn't played a first-round SEC tournament game since beating Mississippi 82-77 in 1979. The Wildcats want to avoid having to win four games in four days next week as they seek their 26th SEC tournament title and 12th since 1979.

``If we do get a bye, we'll have an extra day off and get to rest until Friday,'' Kentucky forward Rekalin Sims said. ``It's very hard for a team without a bye to win the tournament, so it's crucial for us.''
