I decided prior to the start of the season not to post this year, and I wouldn't have if we had reverted to the bottom of the SEC. Oh well, here goes. For those of you that remember (or care to), I've not been a big fan of Coach Brooks to this point - though I was never mean or disrespectful. I drove the 2 hours to Lexington during his first season to see the cats utterly embarrassed by the 'ville. I had never seen anything remotely like that during my decades of loving the Cats! I remain convinced that we posessed superior talent & vowed not to return to Commonwealth during Coach Brooks' tenure. Until 3/4 of the way through last season my opinion was justified, or at least I thought it was. Last Saturday I broke my vow and went to the LSU game. I have never seen anything like that in my decades as a Cat fan either. One hundred and eighty degrees and then some! To make a long story less long, I have to admit that I was incorrect when I said that Coach Brooks was not the man to turn our program around. He has, period. There were some colossal blunders made during his first few seasons, but man oh man I have to admit that it is good to be a Cat Fan right now! Real good. There's egg on my face, I'm eatin' crow (with cajun sauce), and cuttin' the humble pie! And lovin' it to death! Gator is on the menu this Saturday!

I've always said that it takes a BIG person to do what you have just done here, biglabcatdaddy. Also, I remember your posts, and what you just said here is quite true.
By the way, I enjoy talking with your son and his fiancee at the tailgates. I'm sure you are most proud of him. :) Also, he had mentioned your change of heart just yesterday, and I am just reading your post today.:thumbup: to you! :)

i would venture to guess that you're not alone in your feelings. it would be easyto stand back now and say "oh yea, i supported brooks all along." truth is i would be lying to say that as well. while not quite as extreme as your case (i have never missed a home game under the brooks era and swore i would keep going no matter how bad things got) i can say i didn't have faith in brooks to get the job done. i think we fans can be a little quick to throw coaches under the bus. the turn around from midseason last year to now has got to be one of the greatest of all times. i am a believer now!!!!

I'll admit that I wanted Rich Brooks fired at the beginning of last season. I'm glad Mitch Barnhart didn't listen to me.
