One of the worst calls in NCAA history just now in the UConn game. Guy called for a fair catch, took off. The Cards punt coverage stopped and the guy scored a TD. The officials completely blew the call and would not reverse their own mess.

Officiating has become a joke in the big least.:tongue3:

Agree. This will go down as one of the worst non-calls this year.

They got the shaft on this one.

Well you should care....we want UL to win now.....it helps our BCS.....besides, that was truly the worst officiating call I have ever seen. MY GOODNESS

Well, looks like they just got their 7 points back. Punt by Louisville hit a Louisville player before being recovered by UConn at the 1-yard line, but they said it was downed by UConn at the 16. Super crew out there tonight, I tell ya...

You gotta be kiddin! You think we need Looeeville to win to help our sos. Have you looked at our schedule? I believe our sos will be just fine without them. I don't know who the "we" are, but it sure ain't this KY boy.

Hmm. They just said a VALID signal for a fair catch is waiving your hand above your head more than once from side to side. He only waved it once and not side to side. :icon_lol: I'm still confused.:shrug1:

Nobody loves to see UL lose more than me but I don't like seeing anyone cheated. And UL got cheated.

Must be an SEC crew.

Brohm threw the worst pass in the history of college football at the end of the game for an interception to seal the game for UCONN.

that was one of the worst officiated games i've ever seen and i really couldn't care less about whoconn and lil bro.

i guess the big least probably uses middle school refs since all of the real college refs just work weekends:tongue3:

I'd take a 15 yard penalty the next time he called for a fair catch like that. Put the helmet under his chin strap and say he called it like he did the last time. He won't pull that crap again. All Loserville will get is a sorry from the big least conference for the worst no call I've ever witnessed.

As an earlier post stated, we don't need Uavel for our BCS ratings....but we do need to get back to getting all the good high school players in the Ville, so the more they lose, the better it is for us. We need both Robey and Heyman.....and the chances are much better if it appears U of L is in chaos (which it looks more and more like they are)

Here's hoping they lose to Rutgers, WVU, and S. Florida to end up 5-7....

Looks to me like the official never saw the fair catch signal, and didn't blow his whistle.......

My old coach uses to say you play until you hear the whistle blow......

This was a bad call, but there is no excuse for the U of L players (with the exception of the guy right in front of the UConn returner) quitting on the play when they never heard a whistle.........

They also said that an invalid signal is a foul as well. The ball is placed at the point of the infraction. So either way the ball can't be advanced.

We definitely don't need them for our BCS rankings (although it would be nice if they could throw big bro a few more SOS points). They're probably like the 9th best team on our schedule (assuming they could beat Eastern, Kent St, and FAU). Every BCS team is allowed a few cupcakes in their early season schedule (hehehe.....)

Of course, later in the game, on another punt, UConn got "hosed". The punt hit a UofL player and was recovered by UConn at the 1 yard line. But the ball was given to UofL instead, so that seems like a wash to me.

Also, I agree with some of the earlier posts, I would rather get more in-state recruits because UofL is struggling, than to possibly improve our SOS. We play in the SEC, I don't think SOS will be a problem.

Probably a bad call, but honestly, I really did not think the "fair catch" signal was very obvious, either. Besides, why didn't the Louisville player tackle the guy instead of pointing at him and watching him run past?

And yeah, UConn got a much worse hosing later on.

The announcers attempted to explain it off by quoting the rule book, where it vaguely said something about the receiver waving his arm TWICE. If that's what the book actually says, as a coach I would have my team wave ONCE and run on every punt until the other team caught on.

I really think that no one should have gotten that bad a call.
But then again... look at the calls that they have gotten in their favor to change the game over the years...
i think that the unraveling of U of L football is doing nothing but helping us recruit the farm boys from kentucky...
Nobody wants to play for a losing team..
GO CATS huh?

By the letter of the law, you couldn't do that. Waving once would be an invalid signal, and the ball would be placed at the spot of the signal.

I'm guessing the difference between an invalid and valid signal is that, if the signal is valid, it's a penalty if the covering team hits the returner. But it's not a penalty if the coverage team hits the returner after an invalid signal.

When I saw it thought "wow! What a bad call!!!" But it was louavul so it couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of fans! Besides..good teams overcome a bad call leading to a TD like we did against lsu when the ref called pass interference on 4th down, which clearly was not, and they than got a TD. I have no sympathy for uL, none.

Loserville can just lump it and ride that train back into the obscurity into which they belong.

They've always been posers and now its time to pay the piper.

Bye bye little birdies.

Regardless of whether it's UL, IU, UK, UF or anyone else, I hate to see such blatant bad calls by a professional officiating team, especially when it results in 70+ yards and 7 points on the scoreboard.

I know that there was a "pay back" call later in the game but IMO, 2 wrongs don't make it right. It is part of the game, and I accept that, but steps should be taken, including the option of allowing the replay official (who is in the stands with a better overall view) the opportunity to initiate a review.
