Per WKYT.

Micah Johnson to undergo arthroscopic knee surgery, will miss Miss State game, hopefully will be back by Vandy.

Will Fidler to undergo shoulder surgery and is done for the year.

Tony Dixon has a sprained ankle and his status for Miss State won't be known for at least another day.

Ricky Lumpkin should return against Miss State.

Micah was playing late in the game yesterday. I specifically noticed 4 lining up much of the 4th quarter. I thought Braxton was down.

How did Will get hurt?

Surprised Lumpkin back at all. I hope things work out for him. Tough situation from what little I can tell.

too bad about micah. hopefully he'll be back for the vandy game. we need dixon to get healthy. as deep as our backfield is, it's getting a little thin.

glad to see ricky L back in the lineup. he's going to be a very special player for uk.

too bad about fidler. hadn't hear anything about him getting injured.

Thanks for the update Jwade. Has anybody heard anything on Tamme's turf toe? I know he played limited yesterday but the CATS definately need to see him involved down the stretch.
Turf toes can take some time to recover.
Thank goodness for the bye week coming up soon.

Micah wasn't injured in the game, he has a lingering cartilage problem, and it needs to be cleaned out. I had the same repair years ago and was jumping rope the next day, so it should not require alot of down time.

The kind of injury Micah has is more of a clean-up thing, rather than surgery for an acute injury. Since they will not be cutting tissue or replacing damaged tissue with a graft, the most serious aspect will be the wound created to insert the scope. He could literally be practicing again in 2-3 days, unless they find more damage than they had expected. Given that he has alead been scanned, I doubt that will happen.

Everytime I look at Will Fidler I think of Jacob Tamme. For some strange reason I feel like he would make an excellent TE. Maybe it's that big hand of his dad's everytime I shake his hand. Let me remind you that the TE for the Pittsburgh Steelers was a high school QB who went to Virginia and the rest is history.

I feel the same. Also, best of luck to Ricky!

I surely hope Micah will be able to play against Vandy. Also, we could have certainly used him this Saturday. He has been playing really well.

Thanks, Jim.

Derrick Ramsey . . . Chase Harp . . . a lot of former QB's do well as TEs.

I was diagnosed with a torn labrum in February 2006, and was told that therapy would fix it. After the Blue/White game in a conversation with Jacob we discussed shoulder injuries, and he told me that Dr. Darren Johnson had fixed his shoulders. Dr. Johnson fixed my shoulder on May 30, 2006, and he's been wonderful. He was straight with me as to what I could expect when, and he was spot on. Granted, I'll be 50 in January, but it feels great, and the horses don't know I had a problem!

The therapists told me that shoulders are the most complicated area in the body to repair, so I suspect that Will will have the best of recoveries and will be back to his full potential.

Rumors are that Will will be switched to TE in the spring.

Same rumor for Mo. If true, why recruit a TE?

Will's future is clouded having had surgery on his throwing shoulder. We'll just have to wait and see and hope for a full recovery.

Any news on Tony Dixon's ankle?

bellbrass
10-24-2007, 12:58 PM
Nothing has officially changed since Monday; Dixon remains "Questionable," and is on a day-by-day status. Since he has a high ankle sprain, I don't look for him to see a lot of action, if any, against the Bulldogs. His ankle is not as bad as Alfonso Smith's was, according to Brooks.

Nice post, and best of luck to Will. I have heard so much about Dr. Darren Johnson and feel that Will is definitely in good hands. :) (Oh, yes, unfortunately, I've heard the same as you from the therapists, moody85. ):icon_lol:

Sorry for the "old news" questions but is Little still not able to play? How about Burton's status, is he OK now?

bellbrass

Little will not play against Miss. St., might possibly be ready after the bye week. Burton has a knee sprain and lingering ankle injury, and might see playing time against Miss. St., but possibly will be held out.

I hope Keenan does sit this one out. Would love to see him get healthy for the stretch run and would give Kyrus Lanxter some good reps against a quality opponent.

Wouldn't that mean having Kyrus give up his redshirt year?

I am pretty sure he has already played. I am almost positive I saw him in the two early blowouts.

Kyrus has already played in at least two varsity games and the JV game - all of which count against your eligibility.

I, too, want to see Keenan healthy for that stretch run--both for the team AND himself.

Per the UKAA Website:

Kyrus Lanxter - (3) games played EKU, Kent, FAU, (1) reception for 6 yards against EKU.

I too would like to see Kyrus get some extended playing time.
