I am cleaning my house of things I don't wear and use. What is your rule of thumb for getting rid of clothes?

Usually if I haven't worn something in the past 2 years, I pitch it. If you need some practice, feel free to come over, lol!

I always clean out my closet every year.....I give my clothes to the DAV or Cedar Lake Lodge

I set aside what I actually wear and then get rid of the rest without thinking about it for too long. I used to go through each item individually and mull it over with a lot of 'what-ifs', but I never ended up wearing those that I kept. Good luck with your project.

UGH!
Sizes in my closet range from 8s to 12s and very tight 12s. What does that tell you about what I get rid of (or don't). My walk in closet would be empty if I got rid of stuff I don't wear and haven't for years. I'm gonna get back in to them just as soon as I quit gaining. :icon_cry:

That is part of my problem. I have a low thyroid condition so I am constantly battling my weight. I have not been winning lately. Now if I could only get my doc to put me on a little higher dose than I need right now so I could lose it then go back on the one that keeps me somewhat stable...

I have 6 30 gallon bags filled so far and I am not done. I might be half way through.

Okay, so whoever comes to clean my closet can give me 10 pounds too.
See, I really am trying to help ya'll out, lol.

Darn! That backfired. Just my luck...

You may get in line behind my mom. :-) You may have to wait a year because she is a pack rat. She probably has clothes that are back in fashion now. Sad to say, I have a few.

Cathy, I can promise you when you get back to that size, you're gonna want NEW stuff. Cause you'll be looking good and won't want the old, out of date, stuff anymore. :icon_biggrin:

Normally I give my old clothes to Goodwill. I change out the clothes in my closet twice a year--once in the spring, once in the fall. If I find something that I really don't wear anymore, I put it in a "to-give-away" pile. Once I have a decent pile, off it goes.

That being said, I might have a lot of clothes to get rid of if my extra weight doesn't come off after this baby arrives. Some of my pants were tight to start with, lol--and that was AFTER I lost about 15 pounds.

Anyone got any medium-sized winter maternity shirts that need a good home, BTW? :)

I hate to butt in this discussion, but I will. Something my Mom did last year was to take selected items and had teddy bears made out of them. She then gave the bears away as gifts. I think the lady that did this lives in Bardstown, but don't quote me on that.

Well, shoot fire, isn't part of the fun of being a woman our clothes? We can't all stay perfect every day....we all need days off to be fat!!! Keep your vacation clothes....

Your closet would be empty if you put that large blue section somewhere else:icon_biggrin:
