Wow, I really hope you are right. Mostly because I want to see Coury shut some people up. I really want him to do us some good this year. I think I might be rooting for him as much as anyone. That is a very interesting lineup though. I like it!!!

From what I understand under Coach G's rules is that if you miss a practice during the week you will not start. I am hoping that both Crawford and Patterson will see plenty of PT. Sad to learn that Jasper will not even suit up for the game and hope things heal fully soon.

you know, i really think tubby found a gem in coury. if you go to the blog and look at the pic of coury with the goggles it's amazing to see the difference. i really feel like this was the typical big, goofy, and uncoordinated kid in high school. it really seems as if he's matured and grown into his body. i think he could be a very important player on this years team. we don't need him to score 10ppg we just need him to throw his body around and get some garbage buckets. if he can do that he will add a lot to this team.

Exactly. Someone made a great post a few days ago about teams needing players who just play hard, do the fundamental things right, but don't have to score 20 points a game to be a quality player. Coury could be that player. Can't wait to see what he's turned into over the offseason.

Totally agree Matt. Just a big body, which we don't have much of...

I would imagine Patterson missing most of the week of practice due to his illness. I would also say it's probably partly for some competition for a starting spot between Stevenson/Coury.

Crawford worries me if the rumors about him not meshing with Billy G are true. I can't wait until tomorrow night.

i think the crawford issue is really being blown up to something it's not/ everytime i've heard BCG talk about him he's never sounded frustrated or upset. he simply mentions that joe is still trying to get back in shape. a lot of us forget he had knee surgery as well over the summer. also, if crawford does have the attitude problem that so many claim he does then bench him. we don't really lose that much. don't get me wrong crawford has tons of potential. but, with guards like legion, meeks, and bradley we will have plenty of scoring options in the backcourt.

I believe we lose a whole lot without Crawford on the floor. JMO. I believe the potential you reference is what Meeks and Legion both have. Joe has already shown he can be a big factor (I guess Meeks has too but definately not to the same extent as Joe for the sole reason that he hasn't played as much as Joe.)

I think BG means business when he wants the players to practice hard and well everytime. If you don't you ain't gonna play. IMO,this sends a good message to everyone on the team and if Crawford or anyone else doesn't take it seriously they will be riding the pine all season.

Meeks will eclipse Crawford this year. Write it down on the flyleaf of your Bible.

Joe brings alot to the table. We need him this year.

I'm relieved. This is way better than a stinking four-guard lineup like so many have been calling for.

"Mark Madsen 2.0"

No way. Coury can shoot. He can get a lot more than garbage baskets because he hits the open 15 footer that big men can get by the bushel-full when penetrators like Bradley force the defense to rotate and help. Coury can easily be a double figure scorer for this team.

Wow, I must say that this starting lineup surprised me. I'm used to Tubby's say one thing and do another (e.g. 'we're gonna push the tempo this year'). Seems like Billy G is sticking to his guns. I'll be glued to the television tonight. Just show me some effort and a little execution and I'll be thrilled.

Other than the Coury-in Patterson-out shocker, the biggest surprise to me is Harris. I've read all of the good things about him ever since last season, but I'll be honest and say I didn't buy into it. Hopefully I've been wrong.

according to the CJ today Jasper is the only player that will not play tonight..Crawford and Patterson are not starting but more than likely will see some action

I believe it's Stevenson-in, Patterson-out. Coury is playing in the middle.

You're probably right. But no matter how they line up, I expected Patterson and Stevenson to be starting at the 4 and 5 spots, not Coury and Stevenson.

Mark Madsen may be goofy but he also has been in the NBA for a quite some time. I would absolutely love for Coury to be as good as Mark Madsen.

I'm hoping you're right, matt57.

I saw some promise in Coury last year. I LOVED what I saw from him at Big Blue Madness. :) Too, as someone said, Coury CAN shoot. He does have that over Mark Madsen, but like RCS, I would also take Mark Madsen in a heartbeat as an addition to this UK roster. :)

It's exciting. I'm really anxious to see these guys. I suspect ALL of them will be PLAYING HARD. I so feel for Derrick Jasper and so hope he recovers to play this season--the sooner, the better.
