Kalenna got the start last night and had 11 points on 4-7 shooting for Golden State. His team was beaten pretty convincingly by Utah but Kalenna had a very solid game. I hope he does well as he's one of my favorite players to come from Kentucky.

I hope the same, MSU Cat. Kelenna is a fine young man who deserves a fine future. :)
Also, our former coach's recruiting was being discussed on a thread in the recruiting forum. I had read something Sunday that I had not intended to share, as I want to discuss, instead, our current coach. However, after I had read some of the comments on that thread, I shared that SIX of our former coach's recruits were listed as playing last season and expected to play this year. I also shared that three or four of those guys would be starting.
Well. actually, it's better than that. FIVE former Cats are currently starting in the NBA. :) They are Tayshaun Prince, Keith Bogans, Rajon Rondo, Chuck Hayes, AND NOW Kelenna Azubuike. Too, I am SO pulling for every one of those young men. :)
As I posted on that thread, our former coach was INCONSISTENT as a recruiter. His recruiting gaps and his failure to sign a top power forward were most costly to UK basketball the past two seasons. :icon_sad:
However, when we UK fans continue to say that our former coach was a TERRIBLE recruiter, especially at the same time national folks look at those NBA starting lineups AND additional possible NBA players on our current roster, we make ourselves appear most foolish as a fan base. :icon_sad: I'm posting this way right now as I had just finished reading a thread with some of those very comments (and I did not respond there, for we do NOT need those old debates, but instead need to support our NEW coach). I guess I'm saying that I don't want us fans looking that unknowledgeable. I have thus shared those numbers for all to read and then put them in the BACK of our minds and discuss, instead, Coach G. :)
Further, from some of Coach G's comments, I sense that he himself does NOT like such statements and negativity about UK's past. He has personally given our former coach some credit in helping to get Patterson. To me, it would be wise for us to follow Coach G's example in regard to our past AND for us to CELEBRATE our NEW COACH and HIS recruiting, which I think will be both outstanding AND consistent, the latter of which is so important. :) Catch that? :)
I apologize for getting a bit off track here, MSU Cat, but those thoughts immediately had come to my mind because I had previously said that three or four former Cats would be starting, and that's now changed to five (as Chuck had been projected not to start, but I had not given up on that happening) :).
That FIVE of our recent Cats are currently starting in the NBA is FANTASTIC. Too, most of all, KUDOS and GOOD LUCK to Kelenna, such a fine young man who deserves success and happiness. :)
