Just have to say... If the shorts get any longer they may as well wear pants...:shrug1:

So far that is my only complaint.

The best part was when the ref went up behind the kid and finally told him to pull them up, after the student section's chant.

Yep. He may have well been wearing pants, because they were down to his socks. Anyone else see the banana and the hot dog in the student section ?? I got to talk to them during halftime. Funny couple of girls.

Hey, sorry guys but I loved the uni's. Maybe it's because I'm just 23 and have grown up around non-short shorts, but I don't think it really is even worth noticing. But, hey, just a young guys opinion.

Its the style. Michigan started the trend a while back and they seem to keep getting longer. The difference between our shorts and Pikeville's was that our's were designed to be worn around the waist to be really long while the kid from pikeville was hanging his a$$ out to accomplish the same look.

Overall I like the unis. I still say we go with an alternate jersey color of grey. That would be sweet.

Agreed. Our colors are blue and white. Not gray with either.

And sorry - I'm a traditionalist too and I can kinda live with the shorts now - but gee I hope they don't get any longer. They're starting to look like, well...dare I say ridiculous.

And yeah - I sure don't want to see the waists halfway down the hip.

the uniforms suck...shorts are way too long..it has to impede movement..i cant believe anyone would want to wear something that long...they look ridiculous..There ought to be a uniform code that states all uniforms have to be a certain length, and by this i mean the shorts...up to the refs to make sure the jerseys stay tucked in...the shorts are an absolute travesty..

Actually, I would say they do just the opposite of impede movement. I've noticed that the more loose and baggy my shorts are the easier it is for me to run. I can't stand tight, short shorts. I don't think they should be down past the knee too far but I definitely don't think they should be any shorter than knee length either.

I agree. Knee length is low enough. Below that they look ridiculous. I predict they will someday start to get shorter again, and people will look back and laugh at the "dresses" they are wearing now, just like we laugh at the "Shorties/hot pants" they wore in the 60's. Anyone who thinks that today's fashions will never change hasn't lived too many years.

I agree, the shorts are just too long! Also, why aren't the players sporting big old pork chop side burns, and who is this new guy coaching us? Isn't Adolph Rupp our head coach? Oh wait, this is 2007. Sorry guys, the shorts ain't gettin any shorter (thank god). :icon_mrgreen:

Thats the point of an ALTERNATE uniform. It is something else besides blue and white. There has been grey in our uniforms for a long time now. Grey is in our warmups as well. It would look sharp. A change of pace for a big game or two.

With that said i couldn't care less what the players or Coach G wears, how long they wear it, and what color it is. Just win games and I will be happy.

why can't they be the lenght of regular shorts. The ones that are knee length you see every guy wearing everyday. I'm a girl and I gotta say its pretty bad when their shorts are longer than my capris. I don't really think the players like them that longer either. I've seen them pull their shorts up on many occasions.

Since you are a traditionalist, what would you think of going real "old school?" I am talking the original light yellow in lieu of white. . . Just wondering.

MSUcat, agree with you on the knee length..that would be ok...
Bluecat, wait and see if it doesnt change..you must be a youngster that wears this type of nonsense in everyday life..oh well..Shorts to the top of the knee would look much better..lets see about the change and how much time it takes...

That's the truth. The laughable shorties looked okay back then, we thought. Same is true for any trend.

The only way the "John Stockton shorts," as Shaquille O'Neal once said, will make a comeback is if a player or team with a lot of credibility in terms of basketball skills and fashion sense (okay, so I just went really far out of the way to avoid using the cliched term "street cred") starts wearing them. If the next superstar recruit, like LeBron, Carmelo, or O.J. Mayo, or a team like UNC or Georgetown did it, I think others would follow, like it did with the Fab Five at Michigan in '92.

And call me sexist if you must, but I think one way for the women's game to gain some popularity would be to revert to the short shorts. That's why women's tennis gets decent ratings.

I can't believe we have a thread this long about our uniforms. I think that's funny.

Speaking of uniforms, and this has nothing to do with ours. I don't like the Jordan Unis that Cincinnati and some other teams wear. The tops look almost like girls uniforms.

I'm not sure that would help. Have you seen some of the girls that play basketball? That just may drive more people away!!!

Well, I'm 30, but I believe the shorts look a LOT better at least covering the knees, as opposed to showing a little cheek. ;)
I don't think they'll ever convert back to short shorts, sorry.

How about that denim? We need to bring that back!

That's a valid point, but my counterpoint is that most girls athletic enough to play major college basketball have toned, athletic figures, which the short shorts would accentuate, even if they may not have facial features similar to Natalie Portman or Scarlett Johansson.
