The guy cant even score 100 points on pikeville! I think his time at kentucky is over. Im so mad at coach g right now. He wouldnt even let Ramel dribble the ball while everyone stood around. Also this not starting Crawford...who cares if he hasnt been hustling..hes a senoir! I would rather see some loyalty to the upper classmen.;)

I think you raise a good point. I have concerns about guys being left in the game after making mistakes... I mean come on, any casual follower of Wildcat basketball knows that when a player makes a mistake of any consequence, they are supposed to be yanked immediately, given the stare of death as they walk back to the bench with tail between the legs only to sit for extended periods of time while the opponents extend the lead and the head coach makes a point to his team...it just scares me that we might have to look forward to stabilization within the lineup if guys are allowed to experience the occasional mental lapse without immediate repercusion. Anybody else notice this trend tonight?

Doesn't seem so to me...there's nothing wrong with light-heartedly expressing appreciation of change.

I guess that guy that posted that was A Tubby Smith Fan still mad that we got rid of Tubby heck i love BILLY G im looking for big things this year. Joe Crawford needs to earn his spot back in the startin lineup i still think Joe would be better coming off the beach cause we are so loaded this year.

"I mean come on, any casual follower of Wildcat basketball knows that when a player makes a mistake of any consequence, they are supposed to be yanked immediately,"

Sorry - but I saw several instances where guys were yanked immediately for making mistakes. In fact, Buzz and Kyle commented on the fact that is exactly what Gillespie will do throughout the game. And he did. Repeatedly.

But hey - I'm not complaining - I've got no problem with it.

The difference is that Tubby sent them to the bench for the remainder of the half. Billy G yanked them, told them what they did wrong, and said "get in there and fix it".

Huge difference.

I liked that about last night as well. Set them long enough to think about what was said and then back in to try and correct it. I am sure there will be games when a player really ticks him off and stays on the bench for maybe a game or two though. :)

Yep. Hey, that reminds me, there was a part of the game where someone came in and toweled the floor and Gillispie yelled at him and said "Good job", and everyone laughed. What happened? Did he fall down or something? Also, what was the new introduction music? Someone said it had changed.

I was listening Tom and Mike on the radio. They said that the most frequently used phrase in practice on Tuesday was "get out". If players weren't doing it right, Billy said "get out" and rotated someone else in. But as Pratt said, he didn't hold a grudge, that player would be right back in soon, with the chance to do it right. Sounds like a heck of a plan to me!!

I actually enjoyed the quicker pace and finally having an athletic power-forward. I really enjoyed seeing a player getting yanked, coached and put right back in - I do miss the kid getting the death-stare, going to the bench and sulking there for 15 minutes (my sarcasm).

We have a LOT to look forward to.

Funny post.

It always is a good idea to pull someone out when they make a mistake and make them feel as bad as humanly possible about it. Just ask a wife. :icon_mrgreen:

I missed the foot stomping!!

Billy did stomp his foot one time in the second half.
When the Cats reverted to standing and dribbling,
not moving. He stomped his foot and called time out.
The Cats came back out and finished their business.

I'll buy that. They usually did not sit as long. And hey - I've got no problem with a coach yanking a player.

FWIW, I think the post is CLEVER, particularly the line about Coach's not letting Ramel "dribble the ball while everyone else stood around." :icon_lol: I LOVED the improvement in MOVEMENT.

Also, I loved Tubby and was a Tubby supporter. From the moment Coach Gillispie was hired, though, I began loving and supporting Coach Gillispie (although I wish our former coach nothing but luck EXCEPT in any game against the Cats). Personally, I liked that the post did NOT seem like one of those same old "digs" with perhaps just a tinge of hatred. Instead, at least in my eyes, it was a clever joke with a lot of truth in it. FWIW, I, too, approve of those two changes on the court to which the poster referred. :) GO CATS! GO COACH G!

P.S. I read that the players call Coach Gillispie "Coach G"--thus what I am now calling him.
