there have been alot of theories on this board. BG threw the game, we couldn't shoot, couldn't D, no adjustments.

to me, the game was lost in the first 5 min. think about it...they get up 14-0, but win by 16. so over the last 35 minutes, they "outplayed" us by 2 whole points. the first 5 minutes were played by Coury, Patterson, Bradley, Meeks, and Porter. personally, I think it's hard to blame the other guys for not digging us out of the hole that these 5 (and BG for not calling a TO) created. I remember a point late in the second half where we were down 7 and Jodie missed a 3 that would have cut it to 4. instead, they come down and hit a trey and it's a 10 point game. It doesn't take a mathematician to realize that from the point we were down 14 to the point Jodie bricked the 3, we had "outplayed" them by 7 points ( a span of roughly, what...25-30 min) reminds me alot of the alabama game last year where we dug a huge hole early, and lost despite "outplaying" the tide for the better part of the game.

I'm not sure that I agree with the starting of whoever has a good practice that day. Tubby tried that last year with his graded practices and many made fun of him for resorting to last ditch efforts. really, does anyone here think Mike Porter should be starting against anyone? Is the Coury Flurry all it's cracked up to be?

not to second guess BG but I say go with the experience to start and if we get down...say, 7-0, CALL A FREAKING TIMEOUT. in the exhibs he was calling timeouts if somebody breathed the wrong way. why the hell do we have to get down 14-0 before he decides enough is enough?

The problem with your argument is that it ignores the fact that we should have been able to spot this team 14 points and still beat them handily.

If the best you can do is to say that we played a little better than them after the first 4-5 minutes, then you are damning us with faint praise.

Plain and simple.the Cats lost because they got outplayed in every aspect of the game. This has to have been one of the worst game by any UK team in their storied history.

And one of the consequencies is a lost confidence in the team by many of the fans.

yet we were able to trade baskets with them for the last 35 minutes ?
we were only "outplayed in every aspect" for the first 5 min.

Wake up call...UK didn't play with the heart, the hustle, or the teamwork to win this game. UK looked tired, listless, confused and distracted the whole game.
coach, players, media, fans, you name it.....we all need to wake up....this program is actually in need of a rebuild.....and that can hurt.

Earth to bathtub... when we are trading baskets for 35 minutes with Gardner Webb we ARE getting outplayed in every aspect of the game... We got outplayed the entire game. Your logic doesn't make sense. We were playing an extremely inferior opponent. If we were playing a better or comparable opponent. The fact of the matter is we still should have won the game by more than 10 points AFTER their 14-0 run to start the game. I know its a sad realization but we got stomped on the whole game, not just the first 5 minutes (there was a timeout in that span by the way).
