View Full Version : Bradley Quote

"We learned a lot of lessons tonight. We watched them move the ball well, help on defense, run the floor and go hard," Bradley said. "These are all lessons we needed to learn. This is a wake up call for us. Just because our jersey says Kentucky across the front doesn't make it an automatic win for us. We have to play with more pride. This is a blessing in disguise."
"This game makes you think and ask if we are going as hard as we really can. We have to go 100 times harder than we are going. We have to step it up and stop teams from knocking down shots. I was really looking forward to going back to New York and see my family and all, but I know we need to think about practice and getting better for our next game

What concerns me about Bradley's quote is how he talks about trying "harder." To me, that has never been our/Bradley's problem. Bradley always plays hard, sometimes I think he trys too hard. I think what Bradley needs to do, especially if he is going to play PG, is play "smarter."

this team is not highly talented and the returning guys have a lot of Tubby crap to "unlearn"....this will be a tough year but will smooth out as it goes closer to march..

Amen. I think that we all got blocked from another posting because of this junk. The past is the past. Let's all move forward.

Bradley's quotes are rediculous at the least. The things he is talking about are fundamental basketball 101. I guess playground ball doesn't teach that anymore huh??:shrug1:

Look, people, I'm as disgusted about the loss to GW as anyone, but these are still young men we're dealing with, not bleetin' robots. If that game was what it took to give them a dose of reality, so be it. I, for one, am glad it made Ramel and his teammates understand what's happening. The day will come, and it will come soon, when we'll just look at that game as a bump in the road.
And I'm sorry some of you all feel that way, but it WAS NOT Tubby Smith's fault that UK lost that game. Period.

I wonder if we can call Godwin every time someone turns a completely un Tubby related post into a Tubby bashing fest?

What is he suppossed to say?
He could have said something like, "When there's a coaching change, there will always be some difference in the methods of the two coaches. Players who have coached under the old coach, must not only learn the new coaches methods, but must also unlearn the old coaches methods. This will be especially difficult at first, but will become easier as the season progresses." This does not mention any names, does not make any value judgement on either of the coaches, and (I hope) does not offend anyone.

You give Ramel too much credit for having the intellectual ability to make that statement. Same old Ramel, all talk, little substance.

That's about as unclassy of a post as I've ever seen here :thumbdn::thumbdn::thumbdn: to you! He plays here. He busts his everyday to try and compete at the level we expect. He might not always make the mark, but he sure as HECK tries. What have you physically done for the team????
And you never know, he might be more intelligent than you. Ever thought of that? You don't know him personally, and you sure shouldn't be making statements like that on here. :tongue3:

Man, seems like we're being a little hard on Ramel! I've been in the media room after the games and if you see all the stupid guys asking stupid questions you would understand that he just wants to answer and get out of there, especially after a loss.

Calling current UK players stupid is not ok on this board, even if you say it in a roundabout way.

I think you are reading too much into what I was trying to say and maybe I should have been more descriptive or maybe not said it at all. I am coming at it from a basketball intellect standpoint and being able to grasp that concept. Also, you are bringing some things up that are not at all relevant like what I have done for the team physically??? Not sure what that has to do with anything and I never said he didn't try. Also he might be more intelligent than me and probably is, but you shouldn't be telling me what I should say and what I shouldn't say on here. This is a message board where opinions are aplenty and equally valuable. You sound like someone who has some serious issues.

I am not tring to say that, even though I know it sounds that way. Should have thought about what I was writing a little more.

You didn't come anywhere near close to saying that.
And what Bradley has contributed to this team, physically, emotionally, etc. is relevant because he doesn't deserve for someone, who is supposed to be a fan, to suggest he lacks the intelligence to answer questions in a post game. You may or may not have meant it that way, but it couldn't have been taken any other way in the manner it was written.
And, as DC said, what you said is uncalled for.
I don't have any serious issues fwiw. Except when it comes to supposed fans saying junk like what you said, again, purposefully or not. :icon_rolleyes:

You are right, I didn't come anywhere close to saying what I meant, whether you believe it or not. But you and DC are putting words in my post that I didn't say. I never called him stupid and I never suggested he lacked the intelligence to answer questions in a post game presser. But you are right in that what I said probably would be taken in the most negative light most of the time and that is regrettable on my part.
But what I do take exception to is your suggestion that I am not a fan or not a true fan. Look, I have lived and died for this team since '78 so let's don't be too quick to make assumptions in that regard.

1st, I'm not here to start a fight or anything like that. But I'll sure as heck stand up for the guys, especially a hard working senior if I think they're being wronged. This is a situation where I thought that.
Leroy, nobody put any words in your mouth. You said it.
And as far as the "supposed fan" part, would you want a fan who questions the intelligence of his player. Not his game making decisions. Not after he's done something dumb off of the court or anything else that would warrant that, but only after he didn't answer presser questions the way you'd like after as devastating a loss as we've had in a long while? That's wonderful that you've been a fan since '78. But please word your comments in such a way so that they aren't taken the wrong way, especially in that type of wrong way. Ramel and the rest of the Cats deserves better.

Personally, I was proud of Ramel for this MATURE response after such a hurtful loss for him. Not only did he not lead his team to a victory, but also he missed out on going home and playing in "the Garden," as he calls it. Dick Gabriel said last night that looking at the painful expression on Ramel's face after the game was really hard. He also noted that Ramel is a player who really respeects Kentucky's tradition and pkays for the name on the FRONT of the jersey.
KUDOS to Ramel. He may not make the best decisions or handle the ball as well when he is trying especially hard to win. Yet, when he's on the bench, he's rooting so hard for his teammates, waving his towel similar to Saul Smith (and, please, no put-downs because of that comparison). I LOVE Ramel's attitude and DESIRE TO WIN.
Everyone, read his comments again, looking for some maturity and wisdom from Ramel. FWIW, I surely found it. I suspect Coach G thinks the same and is proud of his senior leader's response. Too, THAT is all that really matters.

Please allow me to clarify my response to westtncat's post. It didn't occur to me that he might have been talking about Ramel Bradley's quote. I assumed he was asking about the criticism of wildcatdon's post. I attempted to paraphrase wildcatdon's post, eliminating any derogatory refreences to any former coach. What I posted would in no way be a paraphrase or substitute of what Ramel said. Let me add that I'm a big fan of Ramel Bradley. I think we will have a better team this year with him than without him. I personally do not find anything inappropriate or offensive about his quote. I am sorry that I may have transformed this thread into criticism of him, or at least caused that criticism to intensify.

If you put ramels desire to win along with some good decision making you have a good bbplayer...at the moment...or at least in the last game ramel was a liability.
