If you take a strong nucleus of Meeks, Legion, and Patterson with the addition of Liggins and Miller next year I think we are one stud big man away from being a legit contender for a national championship.
Too bad we couldn't land someone like Monroe next year.
What's everyone else think?

Good start, but not enough, IMO. Not sure about Liggins, but we desparately need a PG with speed and great ball handling skills. (What I wouldn't give for Cliff Hawkins right now.) And we need QUALITY depth in the front court. That is where we are lacking unless guys like Stewart, Stevenson, Williams and Harris step up.
Patterson needs help now. He will need it again next year. The key to next year, IMO is to watch who developes in the front court this year. Hopefully at least 2 guys will make huge strides.

..Cliff Hawkins was one of the best PG's to ever wear the UK uniform..I agree with you..I would give anything to have that right now

How many more studs we need depends a lot, I think, on how players on our current team recover from injuries.
Will Meeks come back in full force? Will Jasper return and see quality time this year? Will Carter ever be back to normal and contribute? These things affect how much more we need to bring in to be serious competitors.

Cliff was the absolute best on the ball defender I have ever seen. (When he was challenged to do such) He absolutely could change the course of a game with his defense, which was completely overlooked by some fans because he was not a good shooter and made questionable decisions at times. But man could he handle the rock and defend.
But we are a bit off topic.
