I just saw Rivels rankings of the recruiting classes and Kentucky, with only two signing, is 19th. Wake Forest had the #1 class, and the SEC placed EIGHT schools in the top 30. (Resembles football recruiting in the SEC.) Florida had the #5 class, Alabama #10, Mississippi State #12, (They listed Scotty Hopson as signing with MSU. If they wind up not signing him, look for their raring to go WAY down.) LSU #18, again Kentucky #19, Tennessee #23, Arkansas #27, and Georgia #30.
My guess is, these rankings, or some of them, will change by the end of the fall signing period, and even more by the end of the spring signing period. If Kentucky lands another player of the caliber of Liggins and Miller, look for the Cats to go up.

...particularly if that player is a certain one who didn't sign with Mississippi State.

I hope he does change his mind. He needs to think about this for a second. WE ARE UK.....THERE IS NO BETTER PLACE TO PLAY. Plus its his home state !! how in the world do you pick someone else over your home state especially when its UK..

Maybe I don't know the details, and I surely don't know his situation. But it just really Pzzes me off when I hear guys going elsewhere when there in UK.

I'm sure Stansbury has his connections here. I'm not 100% sure, but I think he is a native of Kentucky, and I know he graduated from Campbellsville University. Having said that, we should own this state when it comes to recruiting. Plus after what Stansbury pulled in the SEC tournament last year, it would be particularly sweet if we could sign Scotty Hopson.

Stansbury is a native of Meade County. MSU has a kid named Riley Bennock playing for them this year from Meade.

I know you are joking a little, but I really hate this mentality. I've been a fan of Kentucky since I knew what was going on in basketball, but the "WE ARE UK" mentality is just stupid. The kids don't give a rip who we are these days if they aren't satisfied with playing time, or coach, or blah blah blah. There might be 2 kids left in the world who care about tradition. Its not important to them anymore. That is exactly why the talent in college basketball is getting so spread out because they don't care about UNC, or dUKe, or UK they just want to be the star so they can get noticed and make lots and lots of money. Mind you, not all kids are like this, but most these days are. Sorry. (steps of soapbox...)

I don't think JayB meant that to be taken literally, but you are right. Tradition means squat to most kids, but if you follow our recruiting you'll notice we seem to get a lot of players with parents that are very involved in the process. I'm assuming its the parents that still know and respect the tradition (Patterson, Meeks, Miller, etc.).

Yeah, sorry about the rant. I read JayB's stuff and I know he wasn't being literal. That just bothers me sometimes. Along the lines of what you said i agree that there are some that come here partly because of tradition (Meeks) and then others that the tradition becomes apart of them as they play here (smooth). I think that Tubby used to really look for these kind of guys who would respect the tradition and play for the name on the front of the jersey. Thats why we didn't always have the talent level. Don't really think that Pat is one of those guys. I think he made the best choice and a program that will take care of him, but I don't think he chose us because of our tradition. JMHO.

Really late posting on this, but sometimes these recruiting numbers are just a game. I think it was Rivals that even posted that they gave Florida the top rucruiting class, but that number was skewed crazily because two of their top recruits were point guards...and even the recruiters were wondering how that could work out.

It's nice to have a bunch of top recruits, but it's better when you have a bunch of kids develop into a good team.(Whoever dreamed Fitch, Hawkins, Daniels would come out like they did? It was supposed to have been Carruth and Parker that were the dream names.)

Just a thought.
