WHAS is reporting this morning that Cincinnati Reds announcer and former pitcher Joe Nuxhall has died. Looks like the ol' lefthander has rounded third and finally made it home.
I always appreciated Nux. He really wasn't a very good announcer but then again he never claimed or tried to be. He was what he was. A good man and a staunch supporter of the Reds.
Rest in peace, Joe.

Here's a good story on Joe. Like a lot of you I grew up listening to him call Reds games. First with Al Michaels and then with Marty. He loved baseball and the Reds and it came through in his broadcast. He never degraded a ballplayer, umpire, front office or fans. He was critical but in a nice sort of way. He seemed like someone who you knew all your life and could sit down and talk about anything with. The Ole Lefthander is rounding third and heading to his final home. RIP,Joe.

Joe was a special person. It's a shame he has not been inducted into baseballs Hall Of Fame yet. There is a push that started to get him in but now it is something Joe will not ever see now. Here is a link to the Cincinnati Inquirer that has some great stories. Rest In Peace Joe.

I was in northern Kentucky when Joe died and "Rounding Third and Heading For Home" was on the message board at Great American...I was lucky to see Joe pitch for the Reds in Crosley Field and he was one good hitting pitcher...RIP Joe and THANKS.
