Well, I'll start off by saying I work at a movie theatre. It's a big place with seats and screens, but that's not important. I do have access to the coolest movie posters, get to memorize trailers, and read up on this crap all day long. Not all trailers are good to memorize, and some crap is rather boring. However, here's my movie guide for the 2007 holiday season.
Juno - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0467406/
December 5th (Limited): Looks to be a very funny movie featuring some of my favorite actors from Arrested Development and it was written by a former stripper. Good times. Limited release means it may take a week or 2 to reach your city if you're not in the top 50 markets of the US. Trailer: http://alltrailers.net/juno.html
I Am Legend - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0480249/
December 14th (Wide): I never saw The Omega Man with the legendary (pun intended) Charlton Heston. However, this looks fantastic. Bonus points for being in IMAX (the only way to watch movies). Double bonus points for having I think 10+ minutes of the new Batman movie starring Christian Bale. Trailer: http://www.alltrailers.net/i-am-legend.html
National Treasure: Book of Secrets - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0465234/
December 21st (Wide): I'll be honest and say I don't like Nic Cage. However, his role in The Rock and the first National Treasure were great. Second movie looks to have the same look and feel as the first, and add Helen Mirren for bonus points thanks to Mr. Oscar. I thought the first movie had the biggest treasure ever, so apparently I was wrong enough to warrant a second release to correct the error I have made. Trailer: http://www.alltrailers.net/national-treasure-book-of-secrets.html
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0408236/
December 21st (Wide): Never seen the musical, but when you've got murder and meat pies, what's not to like? Tim Burton and Johnny Depp getting together again, with the creator's blessing on Depp's singing, and well, lots of blood from what I understand. Alan Rickman is also one of the best actors ever, and Sacha Baron Cohen as the competition. Interested in seeing the wide variety of audiences that this should attract. If this does well, expect more musicals to movies in late 2008 to 2009. Trailer: http://latefilm.com/sweeney-todd-the-demon-barber-of-fleet-street-trailer
Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0841046/
December 21st (Wide): Big day for movies when I want to see 3 of the releases that day. Usually I just want to see 3 a month. Granted, this is my comic relief movie, and one that my expectations are very low. This way the movie can blow me away with its humor. However, my only concern is that I hate seeing comedies in theatres. Usually you get to laugh at Joke #1, but miss Joke #2 or MORE because some audience members can't control themselves and you end up missing the next jokes which were 10x funnier than the one the annoying dude in the front row just can't get over. Sorry for the rant. Looks funny and making fun of country music. Can't beat it. Trailer: http://alltrailers.net/walk-hard-the-dewey-cox-story.html
Alien vs Predator - Requiem - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0758730/
December 25th (Wide): Christmas, Santa, and people getting decapitated just makes for the right spirit of the season doesn't it? Hey, this may not be the right time for a movie like this to be released, but the movie looks amazing. First movie sucked flat out, mainly because they took 2 franchises based on a R rating and somehow sucked everything good out of them and made them into a PG-13 movie. If you're over 18, check out the red band trailer. Regular Trailer: http://alltrailers.net/aliens-vs-predator-requiem.html
Charlie Wilson's War - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0472062/
December 25th (Wide): Tom Hanks. Julia Roberts. Add Philip Seymour Hoffman for spice. Taking down the Soviet Union. Yeah, this just looks really good, and probably the movie I would actually watch on Christmas day if I actually believed in going to the movies on Christmas day. Trailer: http://alltrailers.net/charlie-wilson-s-war.html
Movies that are out now that I want to see: No Country For Old Men, American Gangster, and Before the Devil Knows You're Dead.
Hope you enjoy the 2007 holiday movie season.
