Looks like it is contained to an AC unit on top of the building. I was hoping Bozo's computer would melt.

When did they do this? I worked with Joe Elliot in radio years ago when he first came to Louisville in the 1980's.

I hadn't heard this. What's going on?

I agree. The only intelligent conversationalist on Louisville talk radio and he get's canned for a syndicated show replay. They should haul Francene's large arese off and put Joe in her slot.

Wednesday's program was Elliott's last - except for his Sunday morning program, which he's still considering the offer from Clear Channel to continue doing that one.

Clear Channel is replacing Elliott with syndicated programming.

Joe would be perfect in her slot. It would jibe with his 8:30 am Sunday morning slot.

We oughta start a write-in campaign to WHAS 840 to replace Francene with Joe.

I could add one more to the list of those who should get canned from WHAS but there are some WCN'ers who consider this person a friend so I won't mention a name.

However, I do agree Joe would be much, much better than Francene.

This is a bad decision on WHAS part. I did not listen to him much, but enjoyed his show when I did.

REEALLY bad when considering the syndicated tripe they're replacing him with.

Plus, don't they still have that wierd guy doing the overnight shift that's into paranormal science or some kind of claptrap? I was coming home late from Nashville one night and was hoping I could get some news and weather but I heard that guy. S-T-R-A-N-G-E!!! Needless to say, I found another station fast.

Man, that is the funniest show on late night. He has some STRANGE callers that will give a good laugh as well as make you a little paranoid about meeting up with them sometime.

That's "Coast to Coast AM", also known affectionately as "Kook to Kook" and, IMO, the highest of unintentional comedy. (Also syndicated.)

I love it.

Not that I believe any of the insane ramblings of the 'tinfoil hat-black helicopter-aliens are among us' crowd, but by God, they believe it, and it's priceless entertainment.

I didn't see that about Joe Elliott. That's too bad. Didn't listen much, but was usually a very good show when he was on.

Also, I just read the article Surveyor posted. I had no idea Joe Elliott was blind. Not that it matters one way or another, but an interesting fact.

I miss Phil Hendrie........:icon_sad:

Yeah, WHAS' downhill slide into eventual total syndication began when they booted Doug McElvein in `93. He was the noon to three talk radio guy - at the time the first in Louisville.

I can't stand Savage. I thought Boortz, who I like, was replacing the slot. Now this would suck big time. Still like Elliot better.

WHAS is totally clueless. First they let Jurich dictate Lachlan McClain's career, they let Meiners talk trash all day and now this???

BTW...love Coast to Coast. Craziest people on the airwaves and often entertaining.

I had forgotten about Doug. Wish he was back in that slot. WHAS noon until 7:00 P.M. is about the biggest waste of airtime anywhere.

Coast to Coast is still a decent program.....but I wish you would have caught it when the great Art Bell was the permanent host BB.

Bell is a very intelligent man who could have serious and compelling discussions with guests on topics that ranged from ghosts, UFO's, global warming, the war on terror, just anything and everything.

Some of the discussions he had with the late Father Malachi Martin on demonic possesion would curl your hair.

I would think that the majority of people that listen to WHAS at the 9:00 P.M. slot, listen because of the format that Joe provided. They are used to listening to him and talk local issues. He also had some interesting guests at times. With the change to Savage, I would think many listeners will be looking at other talk show outlets in Louisville and WHAS listener base will shrink. Which means advertisers will decrease and they will lose money. Strange decision.

WHAS was the last radio station in the Louisville market to host a local talk show in the 9:00 pm slot. All the rest AM and FM, syndicate.

IMO, Joe has been the best local talk show host in Louisville for quite awhile. I'm shocked to hear that they're going to do this for a syndicated program, however, this is Clear Channel, the same folks who took off Rocky & Troy (a tremendous morning show) for the very same reasons.

Joe was and is a very personable, classy man. He's extremely well read and he can comment intelligently on virtually any topic you bring up. I was his intern at his first radio station and you would have no idea he's visually impaired. The man is amazing.

Although I stopped taking the CJ years ago I still wish that the place would burn to the ground.
