RIP, Evel.

For whatever reason, I was enthralled with watching this guy jump. As kids we'd make up our own ramps, do jumps and warp our rims, much to our parents' chagrine.

The Evel Knievel toy motor cycle, crash-car and rocket were prize christmas toys on our street in the early 70's.

I had the motorcycle as a kid. Still one of my most favorite toys.

Dude, me too. I had the figure, the cycle, and the stunt stadium. it was awesome.

And I had the lunchbox, too.

I was 4 when he tried to jump the Snake River Canyon and can just barely remember it.

As many times as he cheated death 69 must have been the equivalent of 95.

RIP

I had it too. I think my Mom still has the lunch box in her basement. Unfortunately the thermos diasappeared a long time ago.

Don't understand how big he was in the 70's. He was at Jordan level of popularity.

He was a breath of fresh air in a time in our country when there was scandal in the White House, a war few wanted, an economy that was in sorry shape.

And then comes along this guy in a red, white, and blue costume with stars, and gives us an American "hero" to ooh and ahh about.

RIP, Evel.

Growing up in Okolona/Fairdale, all the boys on my street wanted that toy for Christmas. I had one but I believe it was blue instead of red:icon_biggrin: Seriously. I had the lunchbox too. We were just talking about this toy at work this week. I remember wtaching him trying to jump the Grand Canyon. I believe it was on ABC's Wide World of Sports.

The motorcycle was the coolest toy ever, The hot wheels tracks and the slot cars were good...But Evil was the best. everything now is just video games.

oh man, I lusted after that bicycle, but never got it. I always put the baseball card on my spoke to simulate a motorcycle sound. How many times did I jump off a ramp made of a 2x4 and a cinder block??? Itīs a miracle I never broke a bone or dismembered myself.
