UK last played Florida State in 1965, a 26-24 Kentucky win.

Wow. Guess what? Bowden has faced UK - many times.
1964: Florida State 48, Kentucky 6. Bobby Bowden was the wide receivers coach at Florida State.
1965: Kentucky 26, Florida State 24. Bobby Bowden was the wide receivers coach at Florida State.
1966: Kentucky 14, West Virginia 14. Bobby Bowden was the offensive coordinator at West Virginia.
1967: Kentucky 22, West Virginia 7. Bobby Bowden was the offensive coordinator at West Virginia.
1968: Kentucky 22, West Virginia 7. Bobby Bowden was the offensive coordinator at West Virginia.
1969: West Virginia 7, Kentucky 6. Bobby Bowden was the offensive coordinator at West Virginia.
1974: West Virginia 16, Kentucky 3. Bobby Bowden was West Virginia's head coach.
Kentucky beat West Virginia in 1976, 14-10, but Bowden had just left WVU; that was Bowden's first year as head coach at Florida State. (They did not play in 1975, Bowden's last year there. Kentucky also beat West Virginia the next year, 1977, 28-13.)
Also, Bowden became an assistant coach at Florida State the year after 1962 when they tied Kentucky, 0-0.
Also, Bowden played quarterback at Alabama. He might have been on the 1947 team that beat UK 13-0 but I'm not sure.
And FWIW in the 3 years prior to Bowden's arrival at Florida State UK beat them twice (1960, 23-0 and 1961, 20-0) and tied them (1962, 0-0).

I'm watching "We Are Marshall" tonight and just saw Bobby Bowden as the WVA offensive coordinator when he gave the new Marshall coach access to his game films to study his veer offense. Also, showed the green cross and the MU that WVA put on their helmets for the season after the plain cross.
This is an interesting flick, but even more interesting because I was a junior at UK when the Marshall plane crash happened.

love that movie..I cry everytime I watch it
My boss is a FSU graduate and maybe the most partisan fan I've ever met. I'm well known at work for my UK loyalties. It's going to be an interesting month...

Just as an aside: Florida State has a postseason history with Kentucky. And I'm not talking about Charlie Ward and those guys losing to Jamal Mashburn & Co. in 1993.
Florida State played in the inaugural (and final) Bluegrass Bowl in December 1958, in Louisville. It was Howard Cosell's first national broadcast.
UK was invited to play in the game but declined because of hostile fans when they opened the season in Louisville that year (beating, of all teams, Hawaii). Instead, Oklahoma State showed up and beat the Seminoles.
