That's the matchup, just announced.

I hope that the Bulldogs beat Hawaii soundly and demonstrate the difference between the two conferences and the folly in giving a BCS bid to a team that amasses a gaudy record against a pathetic schedule.

Kansas gets a BCS bid ahead of Missouri despite Missouri defeating Kansas head to head and winning their division. Kansas finished with one loss (to the only good team they played all season), Missouri with two (both to the same BCS team and conference champion, Oklahoma). That's ridiculously unfair, and further proof of how those fools use win/loss record as just about their only yardstick, without regard to who those wins and losses were against (as in the case of Hawaii).

Yeah Mizzo got screwed pretty good on this one. Kansas' strength of schedule was 109 out of 119! Ouch...

I will be interested to see what vegas puts on the Georgia/Hawaii game. So many people want to see Hawaii get pounded that the line will probably be pretty high. Might have to side with the warriors on that one. (Kinda like the Boise State game last year.)

109 out of 119? That's pathetic. It makes me angrier that Kansas got in ahead of Missouri.

If your SOS is 109 out of 119 you should be ineligible for BCS bowls and 2nd tier bowls like the Cotton. Sheesh.

Although it would only help us if Georgia wins, I hope Hawaii destroys them. Ive been a fan of Colt Brennan for a while and everyone says he doesnt deserve the Heisman and they dont deserve a BCS game because of their schedule. I hope he goes out and throws for 500 yards and 6 TDs and just destroys Georgia and shows the nation Hawaii deserves a BCS game.

UGA will beat HI by at least 3 TDs. This will not be an intertaining game, except in a Roman Colloseum kind of way......

UGA fans are crying foul!!! Its all over the AJC and sports talk radio here. They think they should have been in the Championship game and are upset that they have to play in the Sugar. I think they are lucky to get the Sugar and we should send UT to the Sugar if they feel that way. I can see them laying an egg in this game if they think they are too good to be there.....

I stated in another thread that if UGA overlooks Hawaii they will be in for a big surprise. If UGA plays like they did at the end they should win by 10 or more but I bet they don't and this will be a very good game.

So was it "folly" that Boise State got a BCS bid last year?

Lets get some predictions for the game then:

Hawaii: 38
Georgia: 27

UGA fans did the same thing a couple of years ago against UWV and promptly went out and lost. Teams that complain about who they are playing often end up losing in bowl games.
The BCS has to let teams like Hawaii in or they will get sued and lose.

We have no way of knowing if Hawaii is worthy or not. No one would play them in the regular season. Teams like Hawaii are the reason that the BCS added a game. There are 10 BCS spots now to make room for these type of teams. I am looking forward to the game. I always like to see how a team like Hawaii does against a traditional power. The Okl.-Boise st game last year was one the best games of the year. Everyone said the exact things about Boise that people on this thread are saying.

What happens if Georgia gets whupped?

Does Hawaii get deserved praise, or does Hawaii continue to get criticism and shoulda had to face someone better than Georgia?

I don't begrudge Hawaii for their schedule too much. I wonder how many teams are willing to add to their budget to travel to Hawaii? Conversely, how much does it cost Hawaii to travel to away games versus teams in the continental U.S.?

I hope UGA loses. How many more Valdosta kids can we get if they have a big loss and we have a big win?

Playing Missouri was the only thing that kept them from being 119 out of 119.

I heard that Hawaii had trouble lining up really good teams to play them. A number of teams bought out of deals they had with Hawaii over the past few years.
Noteable was Michigan, who bought out of opening with Hawaii in favor of playing Appalachian State.

That worked out well.

I am pretty sure the SOS is just for their out of conference games. I can't imagine it could be that low if their conference schedule was included.

Kansas lucked out this season. . . Not having to play Oklahoma, Texas, or Texas Tech. Not saying they couldn't have beat these teams, just that this is why their SoS is so low.

The Big 12 North is just not very strong.

And USC in favor of Idaho. However, USC did play Hawaii in 1999, 2003, and 2005...twice in Honolulu. In the old days, playing Hawaii was a recruiting bonus and a big vacation win. A number of "name" programs like Nebraska and Alabama, among others. made the trip for the extra game.

There is some talk about Hawaii joining the Pac-10 and the conference going to a CG.

Hawaii is in the Swamp next year in I think either the 1st or 3rd game. They finally got someone to play them. Is it a home and home? Id love to see Florida go get beat on the islands. I guarantee you Brennans backup will be just like him and Timmy Chang. The system works wonders for June Jones
