I hope LSU wins this one. At least UK will be able to say that LSU is the champs over everybody except them and the hogs.
Just think If KY had beaten UT, Georgia would have at least gotten their shot to win their way into the title game.

Ohio State bravely scheduled Youngstown State, Akron and Kent out of conference! As you can see, they searched far and wide for difficult non-conference opponents, regardless of geography. To be the best you have to play the best . . . within a 100 mile radius, I suppose.

Doesn't the Big 10 require it's members to play a certain number of in-state games?

OSU football fan here.
I must say I am absolutely thrilled to be in the title game. We were supposed to be in a rebuilding year this season - and here we are in the National Championship. Everybody bashes their schedule, but they beat who was put in front of them. You can't pentalize them for beating the teams on their schedule. Let's face it; every single team had a knock against them. Kansas didn't play anyone. LSU has two losses. Georgia didn't win their division. Va Tech lost to LSU by 40 points. The list goes on and on. We have just as much right to be their as the next team.
Do not expect a blowout. I don't know if we'll win. Honestly, I couldn't care less. I am absolutely thrilled with the way this team played this year. We're really young and NEXT year was supposed to be the year we were back on top. I was expecting 3-4 losses this season, so this Buckeye fan is tickled to death JUST TO BE HERE. But, these players remember the debacle against Florida and I guarantee they won't be embarassed again. I expect a close, hard-fought game.
Go Bucks!

The beat who they put in front of them. No one forced them to schedule a bunch of wimps. IMO they should be penalized for playing wimps, and teams that play tough schedules should be rewarded for it.
That said, that's great that your team made it and that you enjoyed their season.

Ohio State does not deserve to be there. It should be LSU vs UGA.....but that could never be. I would have settled for LSU vs Oklahoma, and then let the #2 SEC team beat OSU. Hell UF would beat OSU too. In Fact, UTK would also.
That's at least 4 SEC teams that could beat OSU, all of whom played tougher foes and beat them this year.
And I hope UF beats Mich by 50.
(OOps I meant UF)

Hawaii played about the 137th (according to Sagarin) ranked schedule in the nation. They play in the WAC. Do they deserve a BCS bid? Yeah. National Championship? No.
Ohio State didn't play the toughest schedule in the world. I'm not trying to argue that they did. In fact, it was 60th in the nation. But they performed better against their schedule than any other team. They lost 1 game in the Big Ten to a team who is playing in the Rose Bowl. They had to play at Michigan (who is admittedly in a down year), which is a tough place to play because of the intensity of that rivalry, had to go TO Penn St who at the time was 6-2 and playing extremely good football, and to play @ Purdue who was undefeated at the time, they beat a very good Wisconsin team. The Big 10 was quality this season. A lot better than most people give it credit for. Every team was bowl eligible except Minnesota.
I also believe you guys give the SEC wayy to much credit. Is it a tough conference? Yes. But you act as if every team in the SEC could beat anyone. You guys beat eachother up. But outside of the conference, you were pretty weak. Auburn lost to USF. Tennessee, one of your division champions, got SMACKED by Cal, who was a 7th place Pac-10 team. South Carolina lost to Clemson.
All this being said, I don't see how you guys can say LSU or a Georgia (FLORIDA?!) deserved it more than Ohio State. OSU definately deserves to be there. I think LSU deserves the second spot more than anyone else, ahead of VT because they slaughtered VT head-to-head. But to say OSU doesn't deserve to be there is wrong, in my opinion.

how can you say OSU did better than anyone against their schedule when hawaii hasnt lost a single game? if your gonna discredit hawaiis schedule with no losses then you most certainly have to discredit OSUs with one loss. then again..if you dont then the team that played the 30th ranked schedule is allowed 2 losses...the team with the 15th ranked schedule is allowed 4 losses..you get my drift. im an sec fan when it comes to football and they are without a doubt the best conference in the nation. the big ten is waaay down this year and you lost...tenn lost to california early but they are playing really good right now. once again let the bowls tell the tale. OSU should prove a little more to be able to play in the championship game imo. lsu has beaten several ranked opponents. osu...none.

Ohio State needed a lot of things to happen to get back to the title game, and to no fault of their own, they all occurred. If you don't like the fact that they're in that game, don't be upset with them, get mad at West Virginia, Missouri, Kansas and a whole host of teams that were ahead of them in the polls just 2 weeks ago.

Ohio State actually beat 4 ranked teams this season, but no matter. If you're going to fault Ohio State for the out of conference schedule, then let's talk about some of the SEC's OOC schedule.
LSU: They did play VATech, but after that, Middle Tennessee, Tulane, LA Tech
Florida: WKU, Troy, Florida Atlantic, and Fla St (which doesn't really count since they play every year.)
Tenessee: Cal, Southern Miss, Arkansas St, Louisiana-Lafayette.
I could go on, but I have an essay to write.
You don't say anything about the softies the team's in the Big bad SEC play, do you? Is the SEC a good conference. Yeah. Better than the Big 10? Probably. But the god of all football conferences you make it out to be? No. They haven't proved anything out of conference to prove this other than beat up on eachother. The two most deserving teams got into the National Championship after this wild and crazy season, and that includes Ohio State. Whether you can come to face it or not, they deserve to be there just as much as anyone else does. But, I'm just ready for a good, hard-fought football game.

We agree again. Will wonders never cease?
I am no fan of OSU but they are the only BCS team to only lose 1 game and to win their conference. The Big 10 may suck this year but they beat the teams they were suppose to beat. UGA lost to a 6-6 USC team at home plus they got destroyed by UT. Okl. lost to Texas Tech & Colorado, two mediocure teams. USC lost to Stanford, at home. This isn't a year you can split hairs on 1 loss teams since there were only 2 from BCS conferences and Kansas had no shot since they didn't even win their division. OSU has not beaten anyone unbelievable, but they also have the fewest losses.
As far as the game, it will depend on who all LSU can get healthy. If Dorsey can get completely healthy they will dominate. He is a one man wrecking crew. His injury totally changed that LSU D. Also, they need Matt Flynn to get healthy. He is not fantastic but he is their best option. I think LSU will win, but I doubt it is a blow out like last year.

Ohio State is very overrated this year. And it's hard to respect a team that doesn't play a conference championship game. Granted, they lost a lot of questionable talent after the complete raping from Florida last year, but this is just another SEC team who took the licks in the SEC and is going to put another good beating on OSU.
I said it before and I'll say it again: I think any SEC team that broke even this year could easily take on anyone from the Big 2 (OSU and Michigan). This year, we get to see it actually happen. I predict thumpings in both games.
I can't really guess how good OSU is, they never played anyone. How could I? So they may have a chance. I'm not a fan of OSU even tho I lived there a few years lol "" The only good thing about Ohio is the woman"" but I think it will be a good game. But like I said I dunno because I have no idea how good OSU is lol
I'm hoping its closer than last years tho. " I think everyone is really" That was such a sorry excuse of football- Uhg it makes me sick thinking about it.

It's funny that LSU may not even be the best team in the SEC. Personally, I don't think any team would like to face FL or UGA right now (with healthy Tebow).
Still, LSU will kick the crap out of OSU (w/healthy Dorsey and Flynn)

We could have lost 49-0 to LSU & LV could be in the champ game & I'd still root against the B-eyes. Only my distaste of ND exceeds that of OSU.

This game will be much like the game between UF and Ohio St. last year. Ohio St. is not as good as they were last year and LSU is better that Florida was last year. Mix that with the fact that the game is in New Orleans and you have a smackdown. Just MHO

Tell him that revenge ain't going to defend Early Doucet or block a healthy Glenn Dorsey.
It may not be as bad as last year, because neither Flynn nor Perilloux are as nearly as good as Chris Leak, but I think LSU by at least two touches.
