Kentucky is heading back to the Music City Bowl.

After a disappointing finish to the regular season, the Wildcats (7-5) will make a second straight appearance in the Music City Bowl in Nashville on Dec. 31.

Kentucky will face Florida State (7-5) and head coach Bobby Bowden, the winningest coach in college football history. The Wildcats beat Clemson, coached by Bobby's son Terry Bowden, 28-20, in last year's game.

"We had a great experience a year ago in Nashville," Brooks said. "Our players are excited to go back there."

Kentucky's players relished the opportunity to face a program with the national visibility of the Seminoles.

"It adds a lot (to the game) because when you think about Florida State, you think about national championships," senior wide receiver Keenan Burton said. "You think about the Warrick Dunns, the Peter Warricks, so many great players. The only thing you can do is be excited. If you can't get excited for this game, you don't have a pulse."

Kentucky football coach Rich Brooks said Sunday, his team wouldn't be disappointed to go back to nashville for the Music City Bowl and, it's a good thing because that's exactly where the Wildcats are headed Dec. 31.

The opponent will be the Florida State Seminoles, which were 7-5 this season and 4-4 in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

They are led by 78-year-old coaching legend Bobby Bowden.

Even after nearly 30 bowl appearances under Bobby Bowden, Florida State will experience something new in the postseason.

The Seminoles will be making their first appearance in the Music City Bowl, where they will meet Kentucky on Dec. 31. The destination was not a surprise - FSU officials had projected that Nashville would be where the program would play its 26th consecutive bowl and 29th during the Bowden Era.

But it wasn't clear until Sunday which SEC team the bowl would select for the 4 p.m. game that will be televised by ESPN. Mississippi State was another strong possibility. Kentucky played in the Music City Bowl a year ago.

This will be only the fifth overall meeting between the two schools and the first since the 1965 season. While meetings are rare, Kentucky is the answer to a popular FSU trivia question: Who was the first top-20 team defeated by FSU?

The Seminoles upset the No. 5 Wildcats at home in 1964. It was FSU's 12th game against a top-20 opponent since the inaugural 1947 season.

Kentucky Wildcats
Location: Lexington, Ky.

Enrollment: 26,439

Conference: Southeastern

Colors: Blue and white

Head coach: Rich Brooks (114-144-2 in 22 college seasons; 23-35 in five seasons at UK)

How Kentucky got here: Kentucky finished the regular season 7-5 overall, 3-5 and tied for fourth in the Eastern Division.

Best win this season: UK's 43-37 win over then-No. 1 LSU was its first win over a top-ranked team since 1964.

Worst loss this season: Coming off back-to-back tough games against LSU and Florida, a beat-up UK squad was flattened at home, 31-14, by Mississippi State.

What to watch for: The Wildcats boast a high-powered offense led by quarterback Andre Woodson (3,351, 36 TD's). The UK offense hit a late-season lull but appeared to snap out of it in the second half of its four-overtime loss to Tennessee. While the defense still has trouble stopping the run, it has made significant strides under new coordinator Steve Brown. Linebacker Wesley Woodyard, defensive end Jeremy Jarmon and cornerback Trevard Lindley are All-SEC candidates.
