found this on http://www.footballrumormill.com/scoop.php:

Many think UCLA needs a splash hire in a city with big name coaches such as Phil Jackson and Pete Carroll. Some names mentioned include Steve Mariucci, Rich Brooks, Rick Neuheisel and DeWayne Walker.

What a surprise. In today's LA Times (Dwyre, p D-7) potential candidates to replace fired Karl Dorrell, in addition to Chris Petersen at Boise State and Rick Neuheisel at Ravens, was Kentucky's Brooks!

Rich Brooks, around the Pac-10 for a long time, 18 years at Oregon, former Pac-10 coach of the year. In the last few years, has turned Kentucky football into something other than an after thought at a basketball school. Sound familiar?

Is this remotely possible? I read Brooks is looking to become UK's longest tenured coach.

I believe Brooks would at least listen to them. Considering his age, I'm not sure he would want to take the job. I know UCLA hasn't been up there in recent years and have not followed their program, but what would it take to bring them back up?

I don't think he'd be interested for a couple of reasons:

1. He keeps saying he's planning on being the longest-tenured UK coach, and he's only about halfway there.
2. With his ties to Oregon, I have a hard time thinking he would go to a team that plays them every year. Just doesn't fit my sense of him. I don't know anything specific, but to me, it just doesn't seem like something he would do.

Also, UCLA, while not the "powerhouse" it once was, Dorrell took them to five straight bowl games, so I wouldn't say they were in the toilet, necessarily.

I say there's no chance Coach Brooks would listen to them, and I surely HOPE that I'm right. :) What's neat, tough, is all the positive, respectful press about our coach, in contrast to some of the "Hot Seat," "Fire Brooks" talk only a couple of years ago! :icon_biggrin: GO CATS! GO BROOKS!
