I just ordered a Dell Inspiron laptop and am gonna go wireless.

I must purchase my own router which leads me to my quesiton.

Are all routers compatible with a Dell or is it just specific ones?

Thanks...much obliged for any help.

I'd gather that all are compatible.

Baldcat, what kind of internet connection do you have, DSL and whos, cable or some sort of wireless?

I do this almost daily and it really depends on what you want the wireless unit to do. All are compatible depending on what you are doing with it.

Try a Linksys wireless router. You should be able to connect to a DSL or Cable modem and get it working fine. I use them about every day somewhere or other.

Good advice. I use a Linksys connected to a cable modem. Works like a charm. The Linksys is reliable and very stable. We had a Netgear before, but it dropped the connection every few days--very annoying, to say the least. Two years ago we switched and the Linksys has never dropped the connection.

We're using a Linksys WRT150-N (had to go look :icon_lol:). It works well, and sometimes has three computers going at once.
