Folks,
I was on my way out the door to ship Jason his Christmas package when I thought I would post this.
If you have a friend, family member, or just know someone on active duty who cannot get home for Christmas, please take the time to send them a small package, a card, something. (This is for the US only, otherwise it's too late.)
I assure you it will mean the world to them.

"Any Wounded Soldier"...as a former Army Reservist and retired Postal Letter Carrier I report what I read yesterday...if you address a card/parcel/etc. to Any Wounded Soldier it will not be delivered...this is because of the terrorist/Anthax threat

That and the fact they were getting hundreds of thousands of cards addressed like that. They can not handle them all. My friend Will works at Walter Reed and he said they were overwhelmed by the to 'Any wounded soldier' cards/gifts before the ban was put into effect.
If you still want to help a soldier in the field, visit www.anysoldier.com (http://www.anysoldier.com) and pick a soldier. They have their needed items listed and they really do appreciate them. I have sent several dozen packages via this website over the past 3 years. Obviously there are other sites, but this is the one I use and could recall off the top of my head.

Don't assume it won't get overseas in time. This month we shipped a box to one of our airmen in Iraq that only took 8 days.
If you ship to one person, please send enough for them to share. Some of the folks are not getting anything from home.

What a great point! I'm truly ashamed to say I totally overlooked it. Sadly, that is absolutely true, for any number of reasons. I don't know if i mentioned it here, but when I attended Jason's graduation from basic training there were several young people who had no family members present because the family was "against the war". I offered to take them all to dinner with Jase and me, but Jase said they just wanted to be left alone.
This can be a particularly tough time of year to be away from home. God bless them all.
