Please note I am paraphrasing. so the quote may not be exact, but I was watching the BCG show this morning. They had a little special on Harris including an interview and talking about him being from Alaska. After they showed the interview, the announcer asked BCG wasn't Harris a great kid and what does he offer this UK team.
BCG responded saying definitely Harris is a great kid, but as far as what he can do to help the team - we are still trying to figure that out.
A little funny to hear that from BCG, but definitely true. Harris doesn't appear to be a shooter, never drives to the basket, terrible passer, poor defender, average to above average rebounder. I don't understand how guys like this ever got recruited. Didn't Tubby at least watch a player play a game before offering them a scholarship?

Let me defend Tubby, to some degree, on this one. Tubby knew he was at the end of his rope here, he could feel the heat and he knew he wasn't closing the door on guys like Thaddeus Young, Brandon Wright and other big names. It was late in the recruiting season and then a player pops up that you hope can come in and help you- it was a desperate move, I'd admit, but Tubby had to take a shot. Carter was recruited by other big schools, so I can't hold Tub accountable there either. I can question Adam Williams, Benard Cote, Sheray, Perry, Mike Williams, Brandon Stockton and others. If I were in Tub's shoes, I would've taken a shot at Harris as well, in that situation.

There has got to be bad blood between Crawford & Billy G .He did take a silly shot at the end of the game .According to the Courier Journal coach wanted a time out .
I dont recall a Ky looking as bad as this crew does !! Maybe if we get Jasper back ????

Hit the nail on the head here. Brings absolutley nothing to the team, particularly with his abhorous passing skills. Reminds me of another tubby standout, antoine barber, but at least AB could dribble the ball

Ramon Harris was Mr. Alaska.
ok so Alaska isn't exactly known for generating high school studs. but the best player out of any state you'd think would have some skills. I don't see anything wrong with him being recruited to UK....I'm pretty sure Tubby would have had no plans to give him as many minutes as he's getting now, and even that's only because of injuries and a transfer. Every team in this country, the uncs, uclas, kansases, and dukes all have players of his "caliber", even on scholarship. You just never see them play and we shouldn't have to see Ramon play so much.
It's just unfortunate that some people continue to blame Tubby for things out of his control.
I will say though, that if you wanna discuss recruiting, you might think about this. Ramon is currently bringing more to the table than one of BG's biggest recruits.

Actually, I would disagree. Legion and Harris are bringing about the same: nothing

Funny, tubby seemed to consistently put together 6-8 out of 12 guys whom he had no plans to give major minutes to. Makes you really wonder.

"consistently" might not be the right word.

Not to be accused of being one of the "angry Tubby loyalists", but I recall he liked to experiment with different lineups early in the season, playing a 10-12 man rotation. And he had to be giving out at least enough minutes to fill a 40 minute game. Just saying.:shrug1:
And if your logic is indeed true, Gillispie isn't planning on doling out the minutes to those guys either. 7 guys saw the floor against UAB. Again, JUST SAYING....

I was evident that the rotation was shallow vs. UAB. We played like a tired team in the 2nd half - poor passing, settling for 3's, lazy fouls, couldn't challenge Vaden and didn't defend well inside. Patterson has been about the only bright spot this season and he seemed to struggle with fatigue in the 2nd. I beleive the rotation needs to be deeper - if we're going to struggle, we may as well gain some experience.

I watched that second half again last night. Beides the abhorent turnovers and fall off in rebounding and a little in shooting, I would still call it our best game. The first half we were definitely better.
After a few flashes since returning, the major presence for Ramon in the UAB game was turnovers.
