Hello everyone, just joined on. I've been reading comments on here for a couple of months now. GREAT website.
I've been a UK fan for a long time. My first memory of a UK game was not a good one. I remember the UK/Georgetown game of '84. UK was missing everything and my dad was screaming the whole game. That was my introduction to UK basketball. While not a good one, I've been hooked ever since.
I've noticed people questioning everything Billy G is doing. Why Porter on Vaden? Why Harris playing. Why no Stewart. No way am I going to question anyting Billy G is doing. There are things going on in practice, off the court we have no idea about. Billy G is laying down the foundation for our championship runs of the future. You bust your butt in practice and try to do the right things in the game you are going to play. While I sometimes cuss Porter and other players, Porter tries to do what coach asks. He makes turnovers, but it's in doing what coach wants. Porter is really good at understanding that Patterson needs the ball. He sometimes forces it in, but he gets it that Patterson is where it's at.
Last year, when Tubby played certain players because of the seniority I told friends he needs to play whoever hustles and plays unselfish even if it meant losing every game. That's exactly what is going on now, and I love it.
When our talent level increases, the players we have now are going to be very solid backups with the experience they are getting.
Let me get something straight, I can't stand losing. NOT EVEN ONE GAME!! I work with a bunch of LOSERVILLE fans, so I have to hear it a lot when we lose. But the rough times this year will be distant memories when the good times come, and believe me, they are coming.......
