Let's face it. We all know this year is going to be extremely tough.

This year is probably going to be an anomaly in the grand scheme of UK basketball that doesn't come around all that often. Hopefully we won't see one like this for quite sometime.

But do you guys think this has a chance to be as catastrophic as Notre Damn's last football season? This was the year that everybody got a chance to take the Big Boys down and they did. It seemed like every week was yet another humbling loss that Irish fans had to endure.

I know its still early but sounds eerily similar to us.

I may come across as a fanatical fan who is just feakin' out, but I was just thinking about this on a Sunday night before the start of the work week. (And the night before my Birthday)

Unlike Notre Dame we've won 4 games. They won 3.

Define catastrophic. Losing season? NIT?

I think both are very possible if some things don't happen.

But as I said before...teams need to get their pound of flesh now. And paybacks are a beyotch.

Heartbreaking loss after heartbreaking loss...

If we can beat Vandy and Florida once, we will avoid a ND type like season. A win against UL wouldn't hurt either (and that is looking like a possibility at this point in UL's season).

I would be shocked if we had more losses than wins (and I'm a little nervous saying that, like I'm setting myself up for it).

plus this is Charlie's 3rd or 4th (?) season at ND with his recruits and they're abysmal....this is 7 or 8 games in of Coach G's first season with primarily tubby's players coming off 2 lousy seasons and zero momentum....

we really need to cut Coach some slack here....this program is in rough shape

apparantly charlie weis is not even close to being on the hot seat...after 7 or 8 games, not seasons!!!!....games!!!!...Coach G. is....

I didn't start this thread with the thought that Coach G is on the hot seat.

I don't believe that is the case.

You are right though. Weiss' honeymoon period as long since past. BCG gets more time.

I think it will be similar, but frankly, Notre Dame has really lost some of the luster that they once had. I don't think that we have fallen that far from the upper-echelon yet. In other words, if our season goes down the way other have mentioned, I think that our season may be considered more catastrophic and surprising in the macro world of sports.

Good to hear from ya Craig.

But isn't the "macro world of sports" all that matters? Well, maybe not all that matters.

I would argue that UK basketball has lost just as much luster as ND football.

They were in a BCS bowl game last year. (Although they didn't deserve it.)

It was in fact their "luster" that put them in there.

Everyone knows on this borad that my heart if first with Florida then with UK, but please DO NOT compare yourselves to notre dame football. In the past 40 years notre dame has 1 national champions to UK basketballs, what, 4 or 5. Notre dame has 1 hesiman winner in the same time and UK has counteless NBA stars and All-americans. Notre Dame football fans have the "we are notre dame" phrase down pat and I am tired of hearing UK fans say the same thing. You are bigger than that. So from someone who knows of rebuilding times, aka Ron Zook at FLorida, be patient. BCG needs atleast 3 years to get his players and his system. And if you lose same games and miss the tournery over the next year or so, so be it. It is not the end of the world!! Because like a phoenix UK basketball will be on top again. After all, it is the most prolific program in the country.

The biggest difference between UK and ND is that if you beat UK it still means you accomplished something.

If we play as well as we did most of the game Saturday then we could be over 500 in the SEC.

This is what I'm thinking.

The SEC conference isn't all that strong this year right?

But its hard to try and speculate what this team can do. Everybody knows me as the guy who always thinks positive. (Check past threads) But I'm just uneasy due to the lack of depth. We have guys who can play but we get worn down too easily at the end of games. And without Meeks we don't have a finisher.

Lets look at Florida. You can't tell me that they have better talent right now than UK. They just seem to be playing more together as a team. I would attribute that to "Flipper" and the fact that he's been there for awhile. His system is in place.

For some reason we just can't put together a smooth game while all playing on the same level.

Define catastrophic. .

the "kentucky's shame" period....how could it have gotten worse than that from the perspective of THE elite college b-ball program, outside of removing banners and wins....but they were trying to nail the coffin shut on Kentucky's legacy....for GOOD!

BUT we came back and came back in FULL FORCE....we've just suffered 2 really mediocre seasons....we'll recover....we've got just the man at the helm to bring us back to prominence....

speaking of football, bob stoops' wins at OU from the bomar season were totally removed from that fiasco and they went so far as to kick bomar off the team and they still ripped the program a new one....funny how some programs get a blind eye, some get the electric chair....anyways, Boomer Sooner!!!!!!!

GO CATS, BEAT HOUSTON!!!!!!!!

Lots and lots of Nostradamus's on board I see. The only prediction I'll make is the following:

WE WILL BE BACK!!!!

Thank you, Sir Richard. For three-fourths of that game against UAB, I, too, really liked what I saw. Likewise, the head coach did, and I think he knows a lot more than I do. :)

Of course, besides losing the lead and eventually the game Saturday, not having Patterson tonight really hurt our chances against Houston. Regardless, with how we had played MOST of that game AND how Jodie looked after having done nothing for six weeks and Derrick Jasper at least in uniform tonight, I REFUSE to give up on the season. I definitely see a lot of concerns and realize that it is quite possible we don't make the Big Dance. However, I don't understand how many UK fans have already given up on the season. Not me. :) GO CATS! GO COACH G!
