I saw the thread about UK having a Notre Dame like season, but I think Michigan's upcoming year is the better comparision.

Lloyd Carr was under alot of heat for not winning the way the Wolverine fans thought he should, most fans wanted him out, he decided to resigned.
Tubby Smith was also under the same heat here at UK, most fans wanted him gone, he decided to move on.

Rich Rodriguez brings a great resume into the winningest football program in the country.
Billy Gillespie brought a strong resume to UK, the winningest program in basketball.

Coach Rodriguez will play a offense that is not suited to the QB's at Michigan and will therefore need to recruit his own players to run his offense.
Billy Gillespie does not have the talent needed to run his style of game and will have to recruit to get the players.

UK fans being some of the most intense fans dont have much patience, and want to win. Sometimes its hard to see that a good coach and a good history does not mean victories without the right players.
Just wait to see how Michigan fans treat Coach Rodriguez the first couple of games when they dont have the right personal to run his offense. They are going from a tradiontial power running game to a flashy spread offense.

Given time, Michigan will dominate, and in my eyes given time Coach Gillespie will dominate. I think there will be bumps in the road until Rodriguez gets the right players, and obviously we are driving down a gravel road right now with the Cats.

They are both similar instances.

You bring up valid points but I was talking more about the losses we (might) endure this season.

Michigan saved their season after lossing their first 2. They weren't has bad as they played those first 2 games.

Don't know if we can say the same thing about the Cats.

Either way, good post.

But you're talking about Carr's last season, we're enduring Coach G's first.....next season for Michigan football may be the same. I'm a UM football fan so I really dread next season, but look forward to the next several. Just as I this Bball season. Definitely very similar.
