I have planned for about two months to get my fiancé a puppy for Christmas. I am picking the puppy up on Christmas day and I already have a bunch of toys and a CAGE.
Here is my predicament: I went to my fiance's house today and there is a present for me that is nearly the exact same size and weight of the cage I bought. We both want a dog so it is possible she also is getting me a puppy?
Any advice? I hate to snoop...

Make sure both go through obedience training for your and your fiance's sake. Two puppies growing up together should get along well, I think. Just set aside a fund for vet bills and the like. We had three dogs at one time, and that was the hardest part. They had a great time together.

I am not going to snoop to see if it is a cage because if it isn't then I have ruined the suprise. If it is then I suppose we will deal with it then.
I have told two of her best friends what I am getting her so hopefully they would be able to sway her away from getting me the same thing.

Well, if the dogs are "house dogs",as someone who has raised four of them up from puppies, I don't think it will be that much of a problem for you. When we got our first two, we asked the vet and we were told was that as long as they're brought into the house at the same time as puppies, it works out pretty good. They get used to having each other around plus they learn that they have to share food and water. They end up bonding with you and each other faster than you'll realize. One thing having two in the house will do is that when you and your wife leave the house for work, it prevents "separation anxiety" (one dog in the house alone all day who can't deal with it) from happening.
Do yourself a favor and make sure you crate (cage) train them. People who get dogs for the first time think they're being cruel by leaving them in a cage, but the dogs learn that the cage is their space and you'll be watching television one night and wonder where they went and you'll find them sleeping in their cages..just because they want to be there.
Hope that helps. :)

It is just the one! What looked like another crate was actually a poker table.

I'll be sure and bring her to next years tailgates. She has made it clear that she is a die hard CATS fan.
Her name is Beatrice.

Golden Retriever! Good choice--we have the three you see in my avatar.
Things you must know about Goldens...
--They love to chew up to the age of two. Get plenty of chew toys and keep anything you don't want chewed--they love shoes--out of harm's way.
--They need lots of exercise. An under-exercised Golden is mischief waiting to happen.
--Training is essential. Goldens are smart and love training. Start early--even as early as "puppy kindergarten".
Beatrice is a gorgeous ball of fur. She's gonna make you very happy!

She is getting into everything she can, but we have plenty of toys for her to destroy.
We decided to keep her crate in our bedroom and she really hasn't been much of a problem. I usually get up once a night to use the restroom so I let her out at the same time. When she comes back in, she will go right back into her crate.
We are giving her plenty of excersize. She gets about 3-4 walks a day and a long play time in the afternoon. We take her to the track behind Morton middle school and she will chase us for a good while.
We have started her training, but it is so dificult to be consistent. She is "sitting" really well and now we are about to work on either "Leave it" or "Come."
Saturday there were three golden mixes at the track and they played with her a bit. She was very submissive and calm.
Thanks for the tips. It has only been one week, but my fiance and I are already wore out. I was going to get a gym membership, but it seems silly when I have an cute little treadmill at home already.

He loves to shop on shoes and leave his calling card. His loves running and playing with the kids. He's a big baby......ESPN is his name.

I have a feeling that you'll be calling her "Betty" before long.
And you're going to discover that Goldens typically answer to many names. For example, "Tucker", our oldest Golden boy, answers to: Tucker, Biggie, Bigs, Hoobie, Biggie-boy, Tooks, Tookus, Tucky, Mr. Big...... (All the "big" stuff came because when he was a pup, he refused to eat out of the puppy bowl on the floor. He insisted that he was as big as our other dogs and would put his paws on the platform that held the big dogs' food and try to eat out of their bowls.)
And dog trainers say that dogs often respond best to two syllable names that end with a vowel sound.....like "Betty". :)
