It was a shock to me, I missed part of the pre game so maybe coach addressed it. He would have helped but it would not have changed the outlook of the game, we are outmatched at nearly every position.

I disagree that it would have changed the outcome of the game. PPat would have given us a whole new dimension with Meeks in there as well, we would have that inside/outside combo we've needed. whether it would have translated into a victory is debateable, but the game would have been much more competitive with him in there.
The thing that sucks though is that if it's not one thing it's another. we finally get Meeks back with a vengeance and what happens? We lose our top player for the game.
We can't win for losing.

It would have changed the game IMO, maybe not the outcome, but the game. We wouldnt have got out rebounded as bad and it would have opened shots up for Crawford and Meeks

I respectfully disagree. We have Patterson, it definitely changes the game. And honestly, I think we have a very good shot at winning this game. But it doesn't matter, game's over.

Patterson would have helped, how can anyone argue that? This UK team just stinks fundamentally. Lets not make excuses, and I hope the team grows from the loss instead of regressing.
4-5 to start the year. Who could have predicted this?
That being said, as much as I am disappointed in Billy G, I believe he is the right man for the job.

Coach Gillispie didn't mention Patterson in the Countdown to Tip-off that I recall. Of course, I am Mr. McGear and can't hear. In the post game, Tom Leach asked about Patterson. Coach said he went to Pat and asked him if he thought he could play and the player said yes. I recall that coach also asked if he thought he couldn't play and Patrick said no. The comments translated into the coach's mind he obviously didn't play.
This coach will do things his way and that is fine with me. I am not a coach and would not be one of coach Gillispie's stature if I were. His future at UK should be great if the fans and media can be patient.

You said a mouthful brother. I like you think he is the right man for the job. I think once everyone starts beleiving like Meeks did last night, we will be a team to rekon with.:icon_mrgreen::widcat:

That pretty much summed up this game. Watching this last night just made me sad. Sad for the kids. They were really going after it last night. Meeks and Crawford had looks on their faces I haven't seen in years. But the harder these guys go, the more they run in circles. How many times do you let your man by you? How many times when your man gets by does your team mate sag off of a deadly three point shooter? These are the same mistakes they have made ever since they got here..
Someone used the analogy of giving max effort, trying to remove a flat head screw with a Phillips screwdriver yesterday and that is exactly how I view some of these players. They just do not understand even the basics of BB. These guys are not real smart when it comes to BB. Never have been. I bet practice is just like a pre college course...
2 Pat would have made all the difference in the world last night. First half second chance points: Hou 21 UK zip.
No way Craw should have been called intentional. It was a smack on the wrist and no body at all.
Hou had no answer for Carter in the post. Luckily for them, UK only went to it four times (that I counted). Three of those were baskets. Two were dunks. One was a horrid shot. I'll take 75% and one horrid shot every game from a real center. He still doesn't want to rebound, though. Even still, I am sure he is close to the top in boards last night, which isn't saying much.
I just want these kids to know how much I love them, and to keep plugging. I was really proud of the effort. Just get smarter!!

I know we are 4-5 but unlike any other year like this I am still excited we are hurt and no one can handle that we will get back and win some ball games and Yes Patrick patterson woulda been huge on offense and defence tonight they wouldnt have gotten all there offensive rebounds..we wil be ok

Bumping this back to the top. I can't seem to find anything new on Patterson- and frankly the whole situation makes no sense to me.
Is it clear to anyone why Patterson didn't play after warming up? Have we heard anything on his condition since the game ended?
This is another mystery.

PPat averages almost 17 and we lose by 14, PPat averages almost 9 boards and get beat on the boards by 5. Carter filled in and had 6/4. Add in the fact that they have to double him and the fact that he takes away penetration of defense.
Huge loss for us losing PPat.

"He still doesn't want to rebound, though."
I don't know that this is the case. He just has a slow reaction time. Takes a while for nerve messages to travel seven feet from his brain down to his feet. The solution for that is to anticipate rather than react. Someday he will figure that out. I hope.

I was listening on the radio and Mike Pratt stated that UK changed the starting lineup, inserting Joe Crawford for Patterson at the last minute before a technical would be assessed because the coach said Patterson had a sore heel. That was about all that was said about it on the radio. With Coach Gillispie, one never knows. During his pre game show he was unsure of whether Meeks would play and made no mention of any injury to Patterson. He also stated a new MRI had been done of Jasper but he did not know the results. For a man who is the head coach of our beloved program, he did not seem to know a lot about the status of his players.

The quote I read was Coach asking him if he could play, and Pat saying yes, followed by a question from Coach G. asking him if he thought he should play, to which Patterson responded "No". Coach G said his answer to the first question just pointed to Patterson's toughness as a player.

BCG is doing what a lot of coaches do by downplaying the recovery/progress of his players. We have a rabid fanbase and hopes do get high at times. No one knew about Meeks until he showed and the same will be w/ Jasper. I also think he's trying to starve the cat a lil...there's a method behind the madness. We are not a very good team w/o P.Patterson. Crawford had 28 points and we got beat by 14...2nd chance points in the first half, houston..21..ky..0. slow and no rebounding

I don't buy into the injury. I think there was more to it than meets the eye.
Nobody thought he looked hurt, including Gillispie.
We shall see.

I hope somebody (Patterson, Gillispie) isn't playing head games. We'll be lucky to keep Patterson for more than a year given his talent. It would be a shame to push him out the door due to lack of a supporting cast or head games from the coach.

A poster on another board is claiming there was a pre-game argument that led to the benching. I haven't read that site's forums enough to know whether this guy has any credibility or not, though he does, of course, claim to know players and other people close to the program.
I don't necessarily believe this is true, but like any good conspiracy theory, there's enough objective information available to at least make you stop and think, "Hmmm . . ."

I saw him limping to the huddles a few times. Hopefully hes not faking the injury or "head games" as some call it. He looked very hungry to me to play. Jasper was suited up also. Thats good to see, NO MORE STREET CLOTHES :) I'm really mad over the loss, but I'm glad to see the FULL team maybe back soon :) Jasper,Bradley,Crawford,Meeks,Patterson. I think we would have to win every game from here on out to get in the tourney at this point so. I'm just flabbergasted at the whole situation, just wait tho. The coming years are nice and bright.
Also a side note: My dad HATES BG very much and predicted a 10-20 I ink it was season.... So its very hard for me to watch the cats lose lol Because yes he rubs it in. I just tell him to wait. BG has his pieces in place and is ready to go after this season I think.

I don't believe any rumor because they are wrong 90% of the time - people take things and bend them every way you can imagine.

i agree with ukbob and feel that there is more than meets the eye to this. i sure hope not. but i did notice when meeks went out with cramps that patterson was setting in a chair against the wall where meeks stretched out at and not on the bench with the rest of the guys. i didnt notice if maybe the bench was full and they was using this as more seats or not

The ESPN article today said that Patterson sprained his ankle during practice on Monday and was unsure if he would be able to play Tuesday night until game time. Patterson told BCG that he wanted to play, but BCG asked Patterson if he thought it was a good decision to play and PP said no. He did not want to risk rolling the ankle again and making the injury any worse.

No real reason, he says he looks like a drunk thats about it.
So now he watches MN. Ive tried to explain what was going on when Tubby was here but ya know he doesn't care :O He just keeps saying 20 win a season and tourney every year coach and they push him out.... I do NOT agree with that in any way thats just what he says. Ya know the type. He will come around I'm sure. I hope anyways :(
And I don't want any responses on why TS had to go or why BGs good I'm simply answering Leroys question.
I know the facts its just some people don't get it yet.
