I've been evaluating officials at the KBG all this week and have seen some great talent. Here's my take on each one a team from around here is recruiting, and especially UK's.

Scotty Hopson, University Heights. An exceptional athlete that can do it all, but he knows he's good, and it affects his game. I'm not sure he would fit anywhere he's not the star. A kid on his team named Edmonson is a much better team player, although not as talented as Hopson.

Dakota Euton, Rose Hill. Big strong kid that can shoot. I think he's about 6'6" and not 6'8" like published. He is young and makes things happen in the HS game because he is a hard worker, but will have difficulty playing the same game in college. He absolutely can't jump. He will certainly benefit from 2 more years in HS.

Wesley Witherspoon, Berkmar Ga. I only saw him for a little over 1 quarter. 6'8" slinder kid and very athletic. His Ga team played Ballard and when they pressed, he brought the ball up the court. He didn't have a lot of help, but is the real deal. I would have to say, we need to stay after him.

Noel Johnson, Fayette County Ga. In my opinion, he's the best overall player in the tournament. 6'6" or 6'7", very athletic, great shooter, excellent ball handling skills, good rebounder. I would love to see him in Blue!

Chad Jackson, Rose Hill. Very athletic, but too short for a 3 in college. He can shoot and handle the ball very good, but he's asked to play out of position in HS. A team player, that will be an asset wherever he goes.

I have to edit the comment about the kid from Manuel, he isn't playing anymore and is transfering.

I may have missed some, but that's how I see them.

The kid from Manuel that committed to UMass is a great shooter.

Great assessment of Euton and Jackson. I live in Ashland and have seen both play quite a bit. I just don't think Euton is a Kentucky caliber player. Now, I'm not saying he won't be and I'm not knocking the kid at all. From everything I've seen he's a great kid. He's slow and he cannot get off the ground. Jackson is quick, athletic, and talented. However, he's not a good shooter. The game I watched this year he had 27 points, most of which came off put-backs of his own misses. He's got the talent and quickness. If he finds a shot, he could be a real player.

Tonight Hopson had a much better game than Johnson, and they played each other. But, if I had my pick, I would still take the Johnson kid from Ga.

Thanks for the report. I feel like I'm the only person in Kentucky who hasn't seen any of these kids play, and that's why I can't and don't offer much on these kids. Always good to have an informed person to keep me up to date
